My daughters first birthday is in November and I want to make it special yet simple. All I wanted was to have a little get together in a club with a cake, decorations, food and music. My hubby does not want me to rent a club because number one the club does not let you bring your own drinks and I can't afford to have an open bar. He thinks it would be embarrassing to have a party without the drinks. The club will allow you to have a bar tender for additional money but the guests would have to buy their own drinks. He also thinks it would be embarrassing to have them pay for their own drinks. I think its a baby's party their doesn't necssarily have to be drinking it will be during the day any way. ( I can't do the party in my house).

Stick with Chucky Cheese and stop worrying about catering to adults! That will be special enough! November is a jacked up month to be trying to do anything for her birthday! Drinking and adults at a kids party! You have better things to do with your money! The party at Chucky Cheese will still be nice enough! But I know it's her first and you want to go all out! But that is special enough honestly! Because the club that seems too much!

If your husband wants a party with drinking, then he should throw a party for some other occasion. To rent a club and invite a bunch of adults to drink or party is innappropriate for a baby's 1st birthday.

Your home would be the most suitable, but since you say that is not an option, the Chuckie Cheese thing is fine. Other options are McDonalds, a local park (although Nov might be too cold depending where you live) or the house of a grandparent.

A baby is not going to remember her 1st birthday and is not going to be aware of what is going on. She will have plenty more parties coming up over the years, where you can do something fancier. What you need is a venue for some family to mark the occasion and a chance to take of photos of her with a cake and some gifts. Keep it simple.

I think you are trying to make it a little too extravagant for your daughter's first birthday party!

She is only going to be one year old and does not even understand everything going on yet. If you invite a lot of people you will be staying busier than you think making sure your daughter is happy and getting everything she needs. This party is about her and for her not to worry about what everybody else wants!

Does she go to Chucky Cheese often? Because if not, she may be a little scared of all the noises and as busy as they stay, my children were at that age.

If you can not do it at your house maybe try a local park/playground, Gymboree, activity place, or even a grandparents house.

Good Luck!
