Just wondering if the CCW permit issued by my state is valid in other states. Getting ready to travel, and I hate to leave my "little friend" at home.

No. But take it with you anyway. If you need it and don't have it, you won't be happy.

I find it interesting that your first answer, whose avatar is a policeman would give a wrong and blatantly uninformed answer.

Most every state has a reciprocity agreement with a bunch of other states. And most of those states keeps adding to their list. A lot of states that don't even have CCW permits have it up for legislation. There are a few states that don't recognize other states permits but that states permits are recognized in others.

Of course if you are flying you need to declare your weapon and put it in checked luggage. If driving and you are passing through a state that does not have reciprocity your weapon needs to be in the trunk and not immediatly accesible to you.

some compact states honor each other permits, check before you leave it could land you in trouble if not compact of this ccw issue, as stated you may bring your six. 9 12 /15 pack with you only it need to travel in a safe secure manner in the trunk ammo separate from weapon there is no law barring you to bring any legal weapon across state lines proving its secured and out of reach of the interior occupants .
me former FED do not place weapon in plain sight ( can be charged with inducing panic)

This varies STATE BY STATE. It's not like your driver's license.

For instance, I have a Florida CCW license and live in Maryland. I can't carry in Maryland with it.

When I drive to Florida from here, I can't carry in MD, I can in VA and NC, I can't in SC, and I can in GA and FL. It's a patchwork of laws.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT presume that you're covered by reciprocity. Research the laws of each state in which you intend to carry concealed. Even if you CAN carry in another state, their laws may differ from yours on the manner or places in which you may do so.

Example: I can carry concealed in Virginia, but I can't carry concealed in a restaurant which serves alcohol. If I take off my jacket and the weapon is visible, I can then carry. If I carry openly in Florida, someone's going to take me down.

You can check as see if the states have reciprocal agreements and honor each others permits. I know Texas and Louisiana have such agreements.
There is also a little known federal law concerning the laws of your state, about carrying a weapon in your vehicle when traveling applying to you. couple of friends of mine applied it in New York to keep from getting their pistols confiscated bye the NYPD

Every state has different laws concerning weapons. What I would suggest is if you wanted to carry your weapon put it in your suitcase or trunk so it cannot be viewed. If you have it in view and get stopped and the law enforcement officer sees it, and if it is against the law in that state to carry a concealed weapon you will go to jail.

No, it's not valid once you leave the state in which it was issued.
