Checks and balances

No one branch can have supreme power over the others. It is supposed to ensure that the will of the people is carried out.

So that no 1 power would have all the control.

It is an idealized concept of "checks and balances" which theoretically preventsany one branch of government from seizing too much power (or abusing the authority of their office) thereby skewing our fragile "democracy".
