Do you really want to find contentment ? The answer is to take your mind off yourself & channel your energy & focus on to others .
Self absorbtion is the scourge of our age...it is a whole industry out in the world ! If we take our eyes off ourselves & seek to make the lives of others better then it's hard to dwell on all of these things that are weighing heavy with you at the moment.

Would you please give it a try ? Go find some way that you can help another human being in a worse situation than your own & see if you feel more comfortable with your own life !

I found the best way was to talk it through with a really good friend, and I don't mean trying to work out a solution, I mean just expressing yourself. Your really good friend will listen patiently. Then change the topic and talk about something 'everyday' (like what's been happening in your friends life).

Whenever you feel down call your friend but always end the conversation on an 'everyday' topic.

Do this enough times and even you will get bored of hearing yourself and will stop those feelings because you just want to get on with your life

Oh, hon...I've gone through times when I felt the same way and I think the suggestions people have given you are super!
Trying to focus on others is a really good way to start.
And having someone to whom you can pour out your heart is a TREMENDOUS relief...plus, you get the benefit of the advice of someone who can see things a bit more clearly than you can at the moment.
You know something else that helps me? It might sound kinda silly, but even when I am feeling down, I force myself to smile and be cheerful...it doesn't ALWAYS work, but 9 times out of 10 I end up feeling SO much better.
Don't know if any of that will help, but I hope so...no matter what...just remember that things WILL get better.
*hugs*

That's who you are, you can't change that...but with time you will learn to control your emotions...let me tell you something though, you'll get hurt a lot and used a lot before you begin to learn...and you're not being irrational, you're just using your heart and your feelings instead of your brains.
Next time you wanna fall in love, think twice, think what the last time did to you...it's ok to hesitate sometimes before you do something and try to think of all the consequences.
You're just full of emotions and that's not a bad thing because you're a human being.
Good Luck
Cheer up

The fact you recognize it as irrational is a good start. Realize first that their is only so much you can do and as long as you did what you could, stop worrying about it, as to the others deal with each one as they come up and don't let it eat at you. Talk with friends and family as well.

2 things i do, I look in mirror and Tell myself I like myself and I will not be this way! Look your self directly in your eyes.

the second is go somewhere alone and yell very loud! just Yell! this works for me ,takes some of the pain out

There is a condition that makes you feel every thing to a extreme. You should try to find balance. For example; "it is this so important for me to be so worried about?" Is this so important for me to be so sad? Won't be easy, but it is possible. I wish you good luck.
