The info about switching from 1024X768 to 1280X768 totally did the trick as far as fixing the photos is concerned. NOW i'd like to get my fonts to look a little better

You must only use the "Native" resolution on LCD monitors. Read the User Manual to find the Native Resolution and how to set it. It is likely a WIDE screen monitor and that's why your pix are elongated.

You didn't say what program you use to view images or your Windows version.

In your photo viewer program, click on the Help Tab and look for something like "View actual size".

You have to set your display settings to fit your wide screen. try 1280 x 768 instead of 1024x768. To get there "right click" on a blank space on your desktop and choose properties.

I think under controll panel-----display--------appearance-----lower right corner below the browse button, there is an option button for you to choose: stress, tile,...etc....
