What do all the arrows mean in football diagrams for plays?

Can you show which way the ball is being passed, or does the diagram only have to show which way their running?

The lines with 'T' at the end are indicating blocks. The dashed line usually indicates the path of the ball either by running or by passing and usually ends with an arrow point. Other solid lines usually indicate other palyers movements that are fakes or diversions to pull the defense away from the guy who actually has the ball or is going to get it. The diagram of a play is intended to give a snapshot of what everyone is going to do during the development of the play to make it work the way it is designed to go if everybody does their job making the play successful. Some plays are designed to "go all the way", while others are only designed to get the yardage you need or want to get, be it 1 or 2 yards, 5 to 8 yards, or 15 to 25 yards. It just depends on the design of the play and if it works against the defense the other team throws at you. The "assignments" would change depending on what the defense is doing on that play.

The lines are to show the movement of the players. A broken line would show the path of a pass. ------>
A line ending with a T shows the anticipated point of a block.

the arrows are for where the players are supposed to go in a designed play. it is up to the QB to get it to the guy that is least covered. it will also show if there is a guy to be set in motion.
