When I had my lil one on July 25, 07. I signed a paper to receive the social security number in the hospital and it said 6-8 wks. She is now 2 months and 3 days and still havent recevied it? What do I do? Fill for a new one? Call and complain? Everyone has asked for it and I can't really do anything until I recieve it...How much longer should I wait? Has anyone heard of such thing and how long until you received yours... From OHIO here...

My daughter's came around in about 8 weeks or a little longer. Wait another week, to call Social Security to see if the paper had been filed. Also as for the Birth Certificate if she was born at OSU, I would check with the Franklin Co. Health Department or Columbus Health Department ask to see if it has been filed and when will it be ready. I am thinking it is around $15.00 to pick a copy up. I hate the prices we have to pay in Ohio for a birth certificate. I had my daughter in WV and it was only $5.00 to pick up a certified copy. It also depends on how fast OSU sends the information into the health department for registration.

Unless she can provide a good, solid reason why she needs that information, I can see no reason to provide it to her, based on the lack of closeness you mentioned. Yes, it is good to put a child's social on a bond but not required to buy a bond - she could use her own. It sounds unlikely that she would purchase anything that would require having a social security number. The only reasons I can imagine would not be for something positive.

In CA, sometimes it takes longer than the 6-8 wks. Don't worry just tell them you don't have it yet. If you don't have one by the time your child is 4 mos(b/c most ins need it by the time the baby is 4 mos) you can file for a replacement card, make sure to tell them you never received the first one.

Call the social security office and ask. You have to go into the office to sign up for a SSN#. They can tell you the number of it that day but it will take a week or two to come in the mail.

go to the nearest social security administration in your town or state. Bring a birth certificate from the hospital you should be able to go in and get it right away with your baby and birth certificate, proof of ID of father and mother. In NC all you need is birth certificate and ID of mom and dad.

You will eventually get it. It took awhile for my baby's too. So many births taking place, and only 8 business hours a day. They will get to you, I promise. Just keep telling people that you haven't received it yet. I won't be the first time that they hear that.

Call your local social security office and check status on it. Maybee they can give you a verbal on the number or you can go down there and pick it up.
I'm sure they are just behind in mailing them.

I would contact your local s.s. offic and see if the card was mailed because they can tell you when the card was mailed.
you might have to bring in the b.c. for anyone to talk to you about it .

Call SSA and ask them about it. The app may have gotten lost.
