Okay, I need HONEST answers, so no posting what you think women want to hear, okay?
My friend and I just got into an argument. He told me that 99% of men on earth are only nice to women because they want to sleep with them. I argued with him for about 20 minutes and said that isnt true, he just laughed and called me naive.
So, who is right? Are men ONLY nice to women, when they want to sleep with them?

I forgot to add, the argument got started because my friend admitted that he views women as objects, and then said that men are only nice to women because they want sex.

This is not true. Some men are nice to women because they just want sex. Most are friends with women because they like them as people.
I am getting married and have many women friends. I do not look at them like objects. My future wife has no problems with my female friends. She knows that I am true to her.
As for your last statement, it sounds like your "friend" is only your friend because he wants to sleep with you. I don't know if this is true but that is the vibe that get from what your telling me.

I think BOTH genders change during marriage. Over the course of a long time of course people are going to change, or reveal true colours which they might have kept hidden for years or more. Especially with people getting married after only 2-3 years together. Can seem like a long time but IMO it's not long enough, there are some traits you might not notice after that length. Yes, people do pretend. Or, the negative traits only appear after stress which they never had before e.g. kids. I think it's ridiculous to blame one party when a marriage falls apart, because the other party they picked wasn't smart or good enough, it's horrible to say they "should have known". You often can't tell these things! I've seen both women and men, who appeared lovely and who I thought I knew well too, walk out after 20 or 30 years! Your argument about dating guys randomly without regard to their traits is like saying you can die from a car crash either way, so why bother with a safe car and a seat belt. Obviously you try to reduce the risk, by wearing your seat belt, getting airbags, and dating a guy who seems smart and normal, but it doesn't completely remove the risk of something going wrong. Get it?

Your not going to get an honest answer from other men, I think it's mostly to do with age, and character. Teenage boys for instance, they more than likely just want sex, and single young man more mature would possibly be looking for a relationship, playing the field if you will. Middle age men who maybe divorced, could be doing both, looking for a relationship or enjoying bachelorhood with no strings attached (sex only) but it doesn't necessarily mean, there is no meaning or some sense of feelings for the women they are with, just mutual understandings. Then you have the salvage beasts out there that have no respect for women at all , that have many women, and munipulate them in to sex and tell them lies to get what they want. It's not all men who want just sex, it just depends. This is just my opinion based on the men I have met in my life, not all men are salvage beasts.

Well, I am a 55-year-old man and I would say NO. There is a LOT of angry, overweight, ugly women I have met over the years, some several times!, that I would NEVER even want to be around, let alone sleep with.
Most women I like to be with. Hugs is a plus for me. Just don't keep complaining about everything!! Yes, there is a DEFINITE few that I really would like to sleep with. But cannot. Married. So I use my imagination and my dreams. I am nice to women that are equally nice to me. Rude, you get rude back!!
YOU win the argument.

I do think a lot of men are mean and nasty and are nice because they just want sex. I once met this guy at a club that was so nice and sweet, and after dropping me off at my apartment, told me he'd be right back after dropping his friend off. Then yelled, "I'll be right back, and I'm not paying for it either." Like what did I do to give him the impression I was a hooker? I locked my door and went to sleep. Men are horny creatures, and I think in a lot of cases they are nice because they just want to get laid. Most higher minded men want a woman they can enjoy as a partner and a lover. But generally, they want physical satisfaction and will do just about anything to get it.

That would explain why we are always nice to women.
But honestly, most men need the companionship, conversation of women as well as a woman's perspective and input. Some of them might not like to admit this but life would be dreary for men with out a woman's presence.

Your friend is very wrong (except for guys that hang out in bars maybe). Men can be friends, and thus very nice to women, without wanting to sleep with them. I think your friend is just assuming that every guy in the world thinks like him because that is all that he has on his mind. Maybe one day he will grow up and join the real world.

Your friend is talking just about himself - so beware if he's nice to you because you now know how his mind works. Still friends????

...no, that's not necessarily true... Sometimes "we" want money and a place to crash for a while... Having "beer" helps too.
