Why do you, as a cigarette smoker, spit? For those few that do, is it a physical reaction to the smoke/tar?

I notice there are only a handful of people that spit. I myself smoke nothing but cloves and never spit. I even smoke while eating sometimes cuz clove smoke actually lends that hardwood smoky grill flavor to whatever your eating...like a hamburger or whatever. Im sure regular cigarette smoke does not go well with food, because I never see anyone smoke and eat at the same time.

I smoked for more years than I care to admit and I don't go around spitting. I do know people who smoke and spit all the time and I hate it. I do have an old aunt that will cough and spit and it makes me gag (shivers).
As for why, I couldn't tell you why they do it, but I wish they would stop.
By the way, I love the way clove smell when you smoke them.

Perhaps an errant flake of tobacco? PS In what world do you live that you've never seen anyone smoke and eat at the same time? Where it's legal, people do it constantly.

Proberly because when you smoke a cigarette it make more saliva in your mouth because your brain thinks you are eating food.

spitting is coz it is coming from the saliva when u smoke, the glands are activated.
