This is an altogether more complex question than it first appears. Love toward others can be as simple as rooting for someone running for a bus; or picking up items dropped by someone from their torn shopping bag; or smiling encouragingly at someone who seems awkward or shy. This love is reward enough in the feelgood factor one gets from love of humanity.

If, however, you mean romantic love ... then I'll opt for being the one to love. If the love is not reciprocated (and I've been there, done that), then of course this situation can cause very deep hurt ... but for me this is far better than being the one who has to do the hurting. Even with the best will in the world, it isn't easy to tell someone that you do not feel as deeply as they do. In this situation the most loving resolution is to be as honest as possible as quickly as possible.

Most couples experience one person who loves a little more deeply than the other ... but accepting that situation, and with mutual respect on both sides, these relationships thrive.

If, however, you are referring to the mark one leaves in the world ... then it says a lot about a person that they have been loved by many. But I maintain that they would not have earned that love without paying their dues in love poured out in some form or another. So, again, I opt for the answer that, for me, it is more important to love than be loved.

To love or to be loved are equally important to one another. To love is important to give happiness and To be loved is important to get the meaning of life and to be happy.

I think both are just as important. It's sad if one occurs without the other because if you love and it is not reciprocated then that will hurt but if you are loved and it is not reciprocated by you then it would hurt someone else so it's better to love and be loved. I don't think they can or should be seperated.

For me, to be loved is more important, because i married someone i love and he hurts me without a thought. so if i have a choice now, i would prefer to be loved rather to suffer.

To love. Knowing that I have loved someone, showed them that in this world they matter, that no matter the circumstance that love stands is more fulfilling than being loved. To give love is to me, showing love of self in the process.

Defiantly to be loved. You can give all the love you want. And from you deepest heart and soul. It doesn't mean they love you back. "And when they do love you back You know it " there should be know doubts or you even asking yourself if the love is being returned.
