I have to say thank you at first.

The expats and foreign people in this section know about Japanese culture so much.
Not only J-pops, games, and animes, but also traditional and local cultures.
Such as, Acchi-muite-hoi, eating Okonomiyaki, on-line shopping malls, QR bar code, the various features of cell phones, information regarding Japanese TV personarities and TV programs, Enka songs, Ebihara Yuri, sub cultures, and various fashions in Japan, etc, etc.

I know some westerners are interested in East Asian traditional cultures and history always.
But the people in this section know Japanese local culture so much, more than traditional one, more than other Asian local cultures.
Why? What make you to do so?

Japan is just one of the Asian countries, isn't it? right?

marmalade. It is not my policy, just a copy&paste. Who cares Keidanren and foreign workers. Not me, but you? But they're also keeping foreigner less than 3% policy. Does this has any relation with Japan' success?
Don't judge and stray from the topic. You are the KY (Kuuki Yomenai yatsu).
The are no precise answer as like black or white in Japan. It's vague and ambiguous always. Japan is as ZEN world. Nobody can clarify.

Welcome to Japan senction, Jasmine. Yea "KY" is popular word in Japanese Univs and colleges today.

Yea to get fresh air, you get out Mr. KY. Too many excuses and exmlaining. Your brain is "made in the west", too. Sould I call you "shazam 2nd?"
Now you studied Japan has "foreigner less than 3% policy." The standards always consistent in Japan.

I don't thik you share anything with me. And Japan has Tatemae/Honne culture. You miss their Tatemae statement. Anyhow, you are just typing irrelevant topic with my Q. Who says "I was right." him/herself is usually ignorant and smug arrogance. Insult? No. It is just a reward of your troll post.
Who says "monoethnic", it is you but not me and not Japan. Japan is mono-culture, but it does NOT mean "PURE" or "100%". Actually I have never used the word "PURE". Don't mistake the word.
Is multiethnice really "MULTI"? I don't think so and it is also funny concept. But Japan is clever. They use any possibility which serve national interests.
You are just barking using with other person Q.
Then if you don't care, will you write something here again? haha...Probably you will.

I noticed the phrase of your 'About Me' section that says 'Don't touch Japan and leave Japan alone'. In terms of foreign interest in Japan (which is what your question is about), I wonder if you know the 'leave Japan alone' policy is not consistent with what various senior Japanese people inside Japan are trying to achieve for Japan's future?
Consider Nippon Keidanren's desire to "encourage more foreign companies to open offices in Japan."
http://www.keidanren.or.jp/english/policy/2006/091.html
or its recommendations on Accepting Non-Japanese Workers.
http://www.keidanren.or.jp/english/policy/2004/029.html

Based on this I guess it is possible to conclude that some senior Japanese people welcome foreign interest in Japan because they know it is necessary for Japan's successful future.
Looking at your 'leave Japan alone' idea; I'm just not sure if you're on board with this policy initiative. However, I hope that you can be one day.

[Added: Thanks for the feedback on this. Genuinely, I appreciate it as it gives me a feeling for how you feel about what I said. I am actually very interested in your view and others expressed on YA Japan. As to being Kuuki Yomenai yatsu, I think I can read the air pretty good but sometimes the air gets stale and begins to smell bad so someone has to open the windows and let some fresh air in.]

[Thanks for the second tirade. Not much time today - we can look at this topic again in a future question. I have some nice information lined up to share. Your insults have made me look at this mono v. multi-ethnic issue in Japan much more deeply than I otherwise would have done. I will be happy to share what I have found as a result at a later date concerning the foolishness of the monoethnic view.
I see I was right with my guess about the underlying theme in this question - it seems you are pretty much into the racially pure Japan thing and judging by your anti-multicultural comment yesterday, trying to keep Japan that way.

You can call me whatever you want - you're a stranger to me. Why would I care how you refer to me?

Well, that's not what I felt...
I agree that a few foreigners, including you, know lots and lots about Japan, and probably more than I do.
But some -- I don't list the names here -- believe that they know about and understand Japan and Japanese culture 100% even though they actually don't.
Their attitudes are like "Hey, I know about Japan, cuz I was/have been in Japan."

But yes, I am sooooo impressed that some foreigners have knowledge about Japan.

I think many Japanese people visit this section. Just they hesitate to write in English since it's the second language.
I would write more questions and answers if I was able to write better English.

I don't even know if I qualify as one of those people, but I have noticed that among users, too. I think people need to know about a variety of things in order to keep up with the questions, because not all of the questions are directly related to travel.

My mum is Japanese, I am not but I have been living here for a long time. And when you live in a country for a longer period, it is only natural you want to understand all kinds of things in order to fit in!

I'm new to this section; I'm usually on P&S (polls&surveys). But one of the person in my contacts told me about this section, and I would like to help out lots, because I currently live in Japan.
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
Ohh and when you said "kuuki yomenai yatsu" I was laughing my head off. Thanks for the laugh:D

I come to this section because I lived in Japan for 3 years and am interested in it's culture.

There aren't many native Japanese who use this section and I don't know why.
