No. In the US we have the Right to Bear Arms. Except for the felons, criminals, insane and irresponsible. And even then, we are not allowed to purchase guns without proper backgound checks and permits.

In my opinion, Iran is a criminal nation run by insane religious leaders. They foster, suppport and grow religious terrorism. They should NOT be allowed nuclear weapons.

Nuclear technology and nuclear bombs are completely tow different things. The UN and the USA have said that Iran can have nuclear for energy needs. What they say is that the one type of reactor that they do have is always built to provide the materials for atomic bombs. There are other reactors that do not produce this kind of material. That is what has the UN and USA very upset after some of the things the president of that nation has said.

Korea was in the same position and there has been a very good agreement and it is being carried out.

Greetings. does the U.N. have the power to regulate any nations nuclear technology? does the U.N. regulate the use of nuclear technology in the U.S.? if not why do you assume that they have the right to regulate it in any nation at all? we in the U.S. have more nuclear weapons then anyone and we are the only nation on earth that has ever used nuclear weapons on humans in war. if anyone should be regulated it would be us. and our insane leaders of course. Iran has as much right to be nuclear armed as we do and as much right to be stupid enough to use nuclear power as well. It takes a real brain dead fool to use a power source that cannot be controlled, you cannot dispose of the waste from that is deadly for so far into the future that the length of time humans have been on earth pales in comparison. The U.S. government has decided that they want to start building nuclear power plants again. regardless of not one of them yet has ever even begun to produce the amount of power promised before building them. nor the cost. initial and long term.

Iran is a sovereign nation. it has not signed any treaty to stop it from researching nuclear technology. As such it is within its sovereign rights to self defense and if nuclear tech is needed, why not?
At the same time, the government in Iran is considered slightly unpredictable. The Ayatollahs are extremist in nature. Also Iran is surrounded by unstable forces and is in conflict very often. The region on the whole is unstable. So, US and some countries think nuclear tech would be dangerous in Iran.
However, Iran's nuclear installations can be monitored and regulated by agencies like IAEA(International Atomic Energy Agency), which is an intergovernmental body(similar to UN).
Iran has to be agreeable to IAEA scrutiny and agree to stick to their regulations.

Yes it does, why Iran doesn't let a western energy firm build and run a nuclear power plant is beyond me. That would solve this whole problem. Iran would have it's power and the west would have confidence that Irans use of nuclear material were peaceful. End of argument.

I am not a supporter of nuclear energy, but that aside, I feel that if it is OK for one country to have nuclear energy then it most be OK for all. My main reason is that it is unfair for a country which is only permitted to have access to expensive energy has to compete with somebody who has access to much cheaper nuclear sources. Or is that part of the American plan?
It would be a much better world if all nuclear technology could be regulated by the UN, but that isn't going to happen.

They do up until they decide to build weapons. They signed and a agreement that states they will not. The U.N. can regulate nothing.

They can stick to the agreement they signed and have no fear of being attacked.

It IS regulated by the U.N.

Iran is completely transparent and the U.N. knows everything they have, including the United States.

But it is possible that the USA will falsly accuse them of WMD so that we can invade their oil-rich country also.

Hasn't this scenero been played out too many times already?

Yes they do. Though I doubt a US leadership determined to attack, by itself or through Israel as proxy, would accept any amount of UN cooperation as sufficient.
