There is only one God; not 48 (or some) crores - 480 million - that your Hindu friend probably believes in and desires one of them!

Tell him to read the Vedas or Bhagwat Gita to know and learn that these Holy Books do mention the existing of only one God.

Hindus truly have one God.

This one God created:

Brahma, the creator of all, in this world or even universe.

Shiva, the destroyer of the Evil.

Vishnu, the protector all but mainly of weak and the helpless.

All other Gods are just Avatars of these three. They are like saint and the angles in other religion.

These lesser Gods came to earth as need arise to bring order and impart various knowledge to man kind.

The best known are Rama and Krishna. The epics are Ramayana and Bhagwat Gita. or Maha Bharat.

Dear friend , if your friend is a true Hindu he should believe in the Adwaita theory. So his favourite God is his own 'consciousness'. Your 'consciousness' should be your own favourite GOD! because IT is the nearest and the dearest.

After all it's about having favorite. It's purely personal. Do you ask someone else to like a color, country, dishes, person? Whichever god he believes, trusts should be his favorite god.

Off course there are 3 crore gods, he can choose any one. But if you ask who is the supreme of all these gods and demigods? then it's his divine supreme godhead lord Krishna is the only answer.
