Here's an analogy. Our parents give us rules such as "don't play in the street". We break the rule, get hit by a car and spend six months in the hospital. Our parents forgive us for breaking the rule but we still spent six months in the hospital.

There is a difference between being forgiven and being held accountable.
Being forgiven means that we will not be denied entrance into heaven since we have accepted Jesus as the Son of God.
However the scriptures tell us that we will be accountable for every idle word we speak and all the acts we have done.
That is a far cry from what most people think forgiveness is all about.
God is displeased whenever we break the ten commandments, but we were not created sinless and God knows that we are weak. Remember the prophet Isaiah said that our best works are like filthy rags to God. We cannot do anything righteous in His eyes, but for those who believe that Jesus died for their sins, there is no condemnation.

The purpose of the 10 commandments doesn't change when Christians believe they are forgiven for breaking them.

Hi CB, The Ten Commandments are a statement of His (God's) covenant with man.
A covenant is like contract whereby one party agrees to certain conditions with another party.
If either party breaks the contract there is usually a penalty.
In this case the penalty of breaking the contract is DEATH!
Now imagine that you have just been pulled over for a minor traffic offence, but you knew that it carried the death penalty I think you would be asking for forgiveness!
The amazing thing is that this contract demanded that God Himself would have to die to make an atonement for its being broken.
The Ten Commandments are the measuring stick against which all judgment is made.
Fortunately all who have sinned can accept the atonement won for them on the cross through Jesus Christ and be as though they had never sinned!
Jesus paid the price so that we can be forgiven!
That's some contract!
I'll have some of that. What about you?
God Bless,
H'chat.

it could do you a worldwide of superb to appreciate those regulations. i'm no longer your decide however the Bible is sparkling. Why could you give up on the ten commandments and not each and every of the regulation... which regulations are you taught to disobey? Are you preserving the sacrifices and stoning disobedient little ones through fact the regulation instructions? Romans 6: sixteen know ye no longer, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; no count if of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? as a count of certainty Jesus did fulfill the regulation... no longer merely areas of the regulation yet each and every of the regulation. this would not supply freedon to brush aside that it is sweet.. it enables you to get replaced and made new and in settlement with God's righteousness.. you in spite of the shown fact that are based on God... in case you have been able to being righteous then Christ need no longer come to the worldwide to shop you out of your sin. Now could you actual settle for the atonement Jesus has afforded then you you definately're a sparkling creation in progression... you've gotten the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.. which will lead you in all certainty.. while you at the instant are not being led by skill of God in the process the spirit then you definately would desire to desire real demanding through fact there's a concern.

Christians cannot be held guilty for breaking them in the first place.
Christians were never a party to that covenant.
The purpose of the ten commandments in relation to Israel was so that they would be a witness against them.
Deuteronomy 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

this is a true point.. and i did support your question.. whats the purpose of it...? i think ppl have changed the idea of god and the real point of the commandments, bcuz a time came over christianity that kings would force priests to change the laws of god, to suit their likings... so if u study Christianity you would find many question that doesn't realy have a pure and clear answer..not mentioning the contradictions in the bibles, and the change of the 7 or 12 letters from it and so on..... i really love Jesus so much, and i hope that the real true teachings of Jesus are still available.. :(...anyways its not a big problem bcuz God has sent after Jesus a prophet to correct the changes that took place after Jesus risen to the heavens, to return humans to the real truth of God.. so thanks god we can still find the truth of god.

They highlight the need of Christ's sacrifice. Anyone who deliberately does wrong things is missing the purpose however.

The 10 commandments don't SAVE us, they just show us what sin is. EVERY person has broken EVERY one of them.
Thak God we are forgiven WHEN, not if, we brake them.
