I'm a student in college and I just need some extra income. I just started working with Noble Roman's Pizza and it's my fourth day working there. The problem is I work my *** off just to please my boss and it doesn't please him at all. I always get reprimanded for doing a horrible job and he would say such things like, "Do you know how to do a simple ******* task" and "What kind of **** is this"? I mean is it normal to have a boss like this tell you these things. I know its my first week but I just feel so depressed and restless about this. The next two days is the grand opening of the restaurant and he told me to take a break and relax for the weekend and to call back Monday for my schedule because he said he was too scared to have me work in a fast paced work enviroment and just wants me to take it easy for the next 3 days. I just feel like a quitter if I quit my job. Is this fair at all? Do you get treated like this at your work? What should I do?

RUN! This is not a good work environment. And it's just a pizza joint...it's not like there aren't others out there! Please do yourself a favor and use the next few days to find another job and then tell this one "I quit".

I don't get treated like that at all. My boss is always respectful of me and even when I make mistakes, he is polite about it and just explains to me how he wants it done and tells me he hopes I will do it better in the future.

My experience is that bosses tend to be more respectful in office jobs than in the service industry. When I was a "courtesy clerk" at a supermarket I got yelled at all the time (that was in high school).

If it were me, I would quit. I'm guessing the pay is low and they obviously don't treat you well. How about working as a data entry clerk? I did that when I was in college and the environment was much more professional, and it can lead to being a data processor (with more education and experience) which is rather lucrative.

Sometimes we need to try jobs to see if we like it and if we are a good fit for the company. This is not a quitter. And in this case the problem could be with your supervisor. He is not professional (at all) in his treatment of you. A good boss does not curse and demean the employees especially if he needs to get production out of them. Give it a little while longer and if you don't like the job or your supervisor....remember the next one could be the right fit.

Your boss sounds like a real jerk. A few bosses are like that, most aren't. He might not be the last jerk you'll run across in your working life, unfortunately.

I'd look for another job, and quit this one when you find one,

If your boss is cursing it's time to quit. It's not professional, regardless of your skill level. If he thought you were that bad he'd fire you, so he clearly just thinks you'll stick around because you'll put up with his crap. Move on, you can find better.

Stall him, say you are busy at school, pick up your pay for the four days you worked, and then quit.
