ok, ive got this guy friend i've known for 9 mths.. we get along well. we can talk for hours, text for days. he tells me lots of stories about his school and such. and asks alot of questions about me. he'd joke around if possible, even confides in me about issues he has..
we don't have a chance to speak in class, but he looks pretty often. at first,when i caught him, he'd look away.now, he holds my gaze..but i look away. and he doesnt dare have physical contact. he mumbles alot when he talks actually, and when i speak to him, he gets tongue-tied..
i went to his orchestral concert,he was staring alot onstage. changed his bus route for mine, he made like he wanted my no and such, took out his phone but put it away. whenever his guy friend talks to me in class, he'd stare at us awful long.
classes are ending soon.. and i really wanna ask him out. would i fail?

I believe it is better u ask him out through sms rather than face to face as he is such a timid fella. The chances of rejection (maybe scare his frens know bout it) is much lower. I believe he likes u too, from his actions towards u.
btw, be warned, going out with a timid guy will really frustrate you very very much (don't u feel frustrated now as he doesn't make any move to date u?! More will come if u tag along with him ... ). From your description, I can see u should be more matured than him, so ... i don't know, you probably won't enjoy the relationship for long ...

Ask him out... do not wait any longer.
What do you have to loose? Nothing!!
If he likes you you will keep seeing him, if not, you anyway won't be seeing much of him when classes end.

definitely no! trust me, many of my female friends made that attempt and all that did was make me avoid them. if this guy doesnt ask you himself then he is either not interested or he's not much of a man. but do not ask him. he will get weirded out and become distant.

do it, you never know what will happen :) Ive had girls say no to me when i asked them out and it aint really that bad.
