i dont think 1000 would fit, but if you was going to try do as many as you could, try burning a data DVD with nero

Get a dual layer DVD and you can get about 2000 mp3 songs on it. (Capacity 8.5GB)
Just drag and drop your files onto the DVD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer. You can then burn them as data files.
Otherwise you can get copies of Nero, very simple to use.

Yes, use Nero, and make an mp3 disc. If I was you use that as a main back up, and also burn to CD's. They are more compatible with ordinary players..

If you are using iTunes, simply choose File, Back up to Disc. easy!
Or, if you have all your musinc in one folder, then right-click on that folder, choose the 'send to', and select your cd-r.

yes,you can,but i think you need plenty DVDs.
you may burn the songs for example with Nero.
