ive posted a few questions as to breed/s of my new puppy. there has been a quite disparate reponse over the last month or so, a few(most) saying he is a jack russell, pit etc . he is now 18 pounds and 3.5 mths old. he has grown. surely he is not a JRT, he is too big. vet isnt sure about this.experts, dog lovers out there let me know what u think. just curious and its a bit of fun watching your puppy grow up. i would have thought that he will at least double in size when fully grown. he is dearly loved.see some new updated pictures here at:

Aw, he is so cute. It is hard to tell what is in a dog if you don't have the exact breeding. As far as we know, our dog is a boxer/pit mix, but we could not really tell that until she was full-grown. (Your dog doesn't really look just like that type of mix - at least not JUST like that). Your dog does look like it might have some Jack Russell in it. The rest? Hard to tell. Could have a little bit of pit - you might have to wait until it is older, and even then, you might think he is one combination on one day, and another day you might have a different opinion. His profile even looks like a teeny bit of Lab, and they are very good-natured, as your dog appears to be. The important thing is that he is a cute doggie, and you love him. He looks good-natured, too. As he gets older you might be able to tell a little about him by his personality and habits, as well as how his body matures out. For now, enjoy him for what he is - a cute puppy.

Hmmm.....I thought before that there was JRT with some Beagle, and I still do,but there's obviously something else there.I can't say what, though, but he is really a beautiful pup.Give him another few months;pups change so much! By the time he's 6 months, you should be able to tell better what he's got in him.

Edit: I wonder if there could be a bit of English Pointer?

He is a cutie alright....
he has gotten bigger- maybe you should do some searching and see if theres anything you can see out there that is similar to him!

Heres a web link, its a site that has picture of all different breeds, alphabetically listed so you can search through and see if you recognise anything-

I still see pit, in the shape of his scull but who knows and also you never know which bits pups pick up from their parents....
if people are saying JRT, maybe he just got the coat and colour but you are right he is a bit big (and only 3.5 months)

Your puppy is absolutely gorgeous. I'd say if he's 18 pounds and only 3.5 months old, he's definitely not a full blooded JRT. He has a JRT body, but his face and his muscular build looks like a pit bull. So that would be my guess, a cross between a JRT and a pit.

hahaha!!!
your little pup looks somewhat like a pit bull..
he might just be a crossbreed, with those jack russel markings. Did you get him from a reputable breeder?
In any way, I think it still looks adorable!!

Definitely looks like he might have some American Pit Bull Terrier in him. Whatever he might be, he's a handsome fella, and you'll have a wonderful companion, as long as you properly socialize him. :)
