It's sad to think that they will wait that long and that it has to take death for them to come to their senses. They could just accept Jesus now instead of living in sin, but it's their choice. A bad choice, but still their choice.

Some offer me a false choice between salvation through belief in savior power to pay for sins or condemnation through disbelief. I believe this is a false choice because this choice is based on the lie that myth is truth. I reject the lie that myth is truth and accept the truth that myth is myth. Based on the truth that myth is myth, I make myth and fantasy that produces in my mind the most powerful emotional responses of joy, faith and love imaginable. I believe my soul has been saved, is saved, and always will be saved by the love freely given to my soul by the spirit of an infinity, divinity, eternally one.

If I am going to believe in a savior, then I would like to be introduced and meet this savior in person. I would like to see where he was mortally wounded and miraculously healed. I would like to hear him tell me his own story in his own words. I would like to know what this savior has been doing with himself since supposedly floating away on a cloud after his resurrection.

Some may say to me that to worship their savior is to 'worship the one true God'. To this I say, if their savior is the one true God then it should be no problem for their savior to appear to me in person. Not only that, if their savior is the one true God then it should be no problem for their savior to appear seemingly by magic, like a genie, to anyone anywhere, at any time.

It is a lie to claim that myth is truth. The affirmation of an ability to know about the existence of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth is a fraud that follows from the lie that myth is truth. Conservative ideological authorities perpetrate this fraud inorder to be able; to make threats against the life and or afterlife of anybody who does not submit to their authority; and to extort from communities of faithful believers tithes and offerings in exchange for a lifelong indoctrination in a standard of conduct that these same ideological authorities proclaim to be the discovery of the truth about the will of a good one in Heaven at war with and evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth. Extortion based on threats made against the life and or afterlife of others and or a fraudulent affirmation of an ability to know about the existence of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth should be considered a crime against humanity because in committing acts of extortion based on fraud that follows from the lie that myth is truth these ideological authorities lead communities of faithful believers to have a low esteem of self and world that is not conducive to happiness and good health.

Unless you're a total fool you should realize, we would hope, that most people who accept Jesus still continue sinning. Look at all the death, the killing and wars, caused by people supposedly in the name of God. Look at all the televangelism who have been caught cheating on their wives or stealing money and having gay sex.

I have known atheists who had high moral standards and are more Christian that most Christians I know.

Isn't it odd how so often 'born-again' Christian are so quick to pick up the stones and sling them. I find it really sad that people like you are 'pick and choose' Christians who take some of the guidelines laid down by Christ to heart and ignore the rest.

I suppose 'Judge not ...' and casting stones means nothing to you because you are above sin.

You'll have fun explaining to God why you've chosen to ignore His word.

Greg T.,
I don't think they are going to repent on their deathbeds. Most Atheists aren't afraid of death because they have had time to come to terms with it's finality. Atheists aren't any more sinful than anyone else, they are just more analytical and they are unable to believe in something without seeing definitive physical proof. Do you think that God would purposely make them this way just so that He can have an excuse to torture them in the afterlife. Hell is reserved for people who actually do believe in God but choose to purposely reject Him for what ever reason. Kind of like me. I think it is unlikely that I will repent on my deathbed, since I would rather burn than worship the God of the Bible, yet that is my conscious choice and very different from what Atheists are doing.

Perhaps you aught to trust that God knows who believes and yet rejects Him anyway (like me) and those who are unable to believe and therefore deserve His mercy (people who are true Atheists). Hell is only reserved for people like me, because to send people who are completely unable to believe because of the way their brain functions would be very unjust. Deuteronomy 32:4 states: "His works are perfect; All His ways are entirely just." God is just and will not punish true Atheists, because they really can't help it!

Unfortunately mate, i fear it will be you who, as you approach your deathbed, wonder if your presumptions about the divinity of jesus have been entirely based on your country and culture of origin, and for the psychological need for an eternal, loving father figure in your life rather than on the actual truth. I fear that you will find that it is you who has niggling doubts on whether your assumption of what is true is based entirely on what you hoped would be true rather than on a researched opinion backed by empirical realizations. As an atheist, of course i'm going to hope that i'm wrong, that there is an omnipotent, omnibenevolent force at work who will care for me in my afterlife, as for repenting, i've loved every human being i've come across, i've dedicated my life to helping others, i've never physically hurt another human being in my entire life and i've given my life to see other peoples lives reach fruition, i've only ever taken what i need to function in my society and given the rest away, throughout my life i've opposed aggressive wars, murder and the infringement of human rights. what the hell, mind the pun, should i be repenting for? Not observing the sabbath, surely if God exists, he is mature enough not to throw a hissy fit for me not lighting a candle every sunday and giving him lipservice because i was too busy helping others and taking advantage the wonderful opportunity afforded me too exist???

If we do repent on our deathbeds, it will only be for the same reason you've given lipservice to an invisible dude your entire life, it will be out of the very rational fear of dying and being forgotten for all eternity- that is not a victory for religion, nor an affirmation that said religion is true.... it is a result of the human condition and a very worthwhile and legitimate fear, a fear you too, know all too well, though you won't admit it.

It's odd to think that you KNOW the truth, when the only reason you believe this truth is that someone gave you a book and told you to believe it.

It's really no different that if someone handed me KKK or neo-Nazi literature from the time I was a child. Of course I believe it...it's the only thing that I've ever been told. Does that make it true? Is racism the right choice? No. Does the neo-Nazi believe it's true? Absolutely.

I would bet most Atheists agree that near death is when most tend to lose their senses and repent. It's a fairly natural reaction to the fear of death. Religion is a good way to calm yourself for the inevitable, even if it doesn't make any sense.

Of course not all atheists resort to such draconian methods to gain acceptance, but it happens.

After all these questions directed at Atheist you're either a very good Poe or just a very deluded person with no understanding of Atheist.

Only God knows.

For God said;
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. That only human race has given a chance to be save from depravity, angel can't avail for such plan because it needs a blood atonement; Matthew 26:28.

Also one of the thief who was crucified with Lord Jesus was given a chance to be saved!

Mat 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mat 27:38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
Luk 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luk 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luk 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

But, if these Atheists will die instantly and have no chance to repent and receive the gift of salvation, John 3:16, then they may truly be die with their sins, John 8:23-24. That's why we need to be prepared for who knows when is time for us to be cut off or die? For the sin of unbelief (of not humbling to God and acknowledge His existence, receiving Lord Jesus' as our righteousness) is the only sin that can sent anyone of us to the Hell of Fire, John 16:9.

Therefore only God even Lord Jesus can truly saved us from our sins and iniquities, no other means or way, John 14:6 and be with Him forever and ever! AMEN.

living in sin? like gandhi? he wasn't a christian... he must be burning in hell for all his (christ-like) preaching of non-violence and brotherhood. like the buddah, who is surely suffering eternal torment because he chose the path of enlightenment over subjugation to the "church"
there is nothing "sensible" about christianity, so no, most atheist will not "repent", ever.
