For many months have watched popular TV shows ruined by
constant advertisements. They appeared to be more frequent
on all channels ,when the programme was highly rated. To
be positive I have sat watch in hand timing how frequent
the advertisements appear, the average is every 8 minutes and
at times less. From an hour length programme almost half is
taken up with commercials. I have lodged complaints to Free TV etc listing the times and received pages of facts and figures " GOBBIDILY GOOP" to show the channels are within
time guidlines, frequency and length. I would challenge the
powers that be to sit as I have with a watch and then concider
the results acceptable. What would be the response from a
cinema audience be if they were treated this way or anyone
reading a book and being interupted every few minutes.
once again is this acceptable? Thank goodness for the ABC

No it isn't acceptable. It's damn right annoying. We usually watch cartoons on ABC all day, because of the kids. Then when they go to bed, it's time for BIG people shows.
I lose interest when there are to many commercials. We were sitting down watching a real sob story movie the other night and I was having myself a cry then a commercial came on. Music & light blaring. By the time the movie came back on I was more interested in the new vacuum cleaner that was advertised.
I guess they have to sell their products, but 8 minutes is too long. I can handle up to 3 maybe 4 minutes. But 8 minutes, I am lost, ready to go shopping.

Can you really complain over this? I never though about that. Hmm. Maybe you should start a partition on here for it. I would add my 5 cents. After all Yahoo in Australia is sponsored by the lovely 7 netwoork.
