Lets not forget, all of the historical events that have taken place throughout history due to religon. The good and the bad. Physics for example began as Christian physics. On the other hand we have the Holy War, 911 attacks and so on.

- We'd do good because we WANTED to do good.

- The laws of each country would keep society in line.

Oh , its going to happen.

The Bible says that the ruler of this world is Satan - Gods enemy.
The religions of the world do not teach the truth about God , they are in fact from ,and part of , the world empire of false religion.

It is this false religion empire all over the world that has done these terrible acts that you speak of.
Inquisitions , crusades , tortures , backing armies for war etc for thousands of years now.

The Bible is also very clear about a time coming soon called Armageddon.
Armageddon is a war brought on by the almighty God Jehovah and headed by his son Jesus.
Its purpose is to rid the earth of the wicked systems that Satan has setup.
This includes ALL religions that do not follow Gods will as set forth in the Bible.
Additionally all people that follow such religions will share in its fate.

What will be left is ONE religion , the true religion and those people that follow it.

So now its a good time to check to see if our religion teaches the truth about God , and if not , we must abandon it and search for truth (according to the Bible)

It would be chaos. Take a look at Communism, which tried to ban religion. THAT was a disaster. The Soviet Union is in a pretty sad state. Without religion, we would not have much charity, since most charities began with religious organizations. There would be no moral values, and it would be dog eat dog, survival of the fittest. The strong survive, the weak are killed off.Without moral absolutes we would euthanize our old people, abort babies far more than we do now, kill off the handicapped. Crime would be far more rampant, because religion keeps people morally centered.
There would be mass suicides, because faith gives many people a reason to live. The world is a hard enough place without having to feel that when you die, there's no hope. Most people would give up. Eventually, man would wipe himself off the planet.
I believe that's why God shortened the lifespans of human beings after the flood of Noah. The violence in the world was very great, and men had no 'religion' to follow. They ignored Noah, the only one who had kept his faith in God.

More bad people, some people just need religion to restrict their behavior. More mentally illed people, a religion can serve as mental santuary for people under all sorts of stresses. Fewer wars or fightings, sometimes people fight with each other just because they believe different religions.

Communism was enforced atheism - not atheism by choice. Comparing Mao and Stalin's regimes with a world without religion is ludicrous.

A world of science, physical pleasures, vices, and intermingling of different ethnicities and cultures.

Without an ultimate moral authority for people to answer to the result would be carnage and chaos. Look at the atheist regimes of Stalin and Mao, over 80 million people were slaughtered without anyone thinking twice, because nobody believed that God was watching and would call the murderers to task for their deeds.
