For White Tornado, or whoever else feels the same, I have no need to "do my homework, please" as I was raised in the Christian church, and I have tried to learn what I can about other religions, and I just can't see how any one is better than any other. I'm not trying to be an inflammatory jerk, I'm just trying to get a handle on what makes people choose one religion over another...I mean is it what you believe because you believe it, or because it's what you were raised to believe, or what is the reason?

Why Jesus ?, indeed and not Zeus or Odin or Bathala, or Krishna, or spirits believed by my driver to reside in the mango tree in our backyard?
Would you believe it if I told you the reason for this phenomenon is the well oiled and aggressive evangelical efforts started by the Church several thousand years ago? Started in order to increase their mass base as well as fatten the Church's coffers. And that contrary to what is popularly believed, it is not Christianity but Islam that has the largest membership in the world today.
Religion is really politics and economics cleverly disguised to appeal to the innocently naive aspect of humankind's collective psyche. Bottomline is , tons of money and a large membership are factors that ensure an organization's strength and influence.
Go back in time and see how intelligent and scheming Church leaders use scare tactics on ignorant villagers to keep them in-line and continually contributing towards the Church kitty.Present day mass cards, the concept of purgatory and similar concepts designed to increase revenues or collections have its origins from those early times.
It is Jesus indeed because the Christian Church, esp the Roman Catholic Church based in the Vatican, is the most aggressive ...most efficient and ruthless organization propagating the Faith...or conquering the soul for the greater glory of God...well, that is the official line mouthed thru the centuries...from the Dark Ages to the Crusades up to the present....
If indeed the Christian God did exist, would you think He would create a world and populate it with different peoples with different beliefs and say: " I am the true God! No one goes to the Father except thru Me for I am the way, the truth , and the light!"
If that were so, from the very beginning of His Creation, He ensured that there was going to be continuing strife in His Shangrila...Odd, wouldn't you think so?
Kawawa naman ang mga Aeta sa bundok because they will never be saved from damnation!
Do I make sense?

In the grand scheme of things there really is not a difference. The whole point of religion is that it gives people hope or something. From what I hear from talking to people of other religions...Jesus is the only "god" that you can have a personal relationship with where the rest are just kinda out there. Unfortunately, I don't really know that much about it all and tend to be biased more toward Christianity simply because of where I am from. But at any rate...that is my two cents worth.

Its the marketing behind the ideas.
Choose your pantheon for what ever reason you want.
I think Odinn is a good choice.
Zeus not so "godly" from what I know.
But Jesus is popular because he was the story told by the conquering society.
Odin was on the Tree for 9 nights. Not just one (or 3) liKe Jesus.

They where given knowledge as we are and those before and after us. That was explained long ago, but they are stuck 5000 years back if not more! Wonder why! Al Jinn they live 1000 years beside them the offspring of satan have slayed in their beds and stayed with them the entire time. They know their fathers and mothers mistakes and they capitalise on that. They are allowed to stay in that position until they decide they can see THE LIGHT!
That is their choice.
If the Lord wanted them on strings he would have fashioned a place to hook strings up. Well what about their armpits then?
Notice how everything in those areas is broken and destroyed go look! Its there as a example for them, but yet they still love their fantasy. Well let them imagine they where given a brain long ago.

"Tornado" is simply (given current evidence) wrong. The theory (n the scientific sense) that explains the most known points about the Christian documents, is one that clearly shows Christianity began with no historical figure as a founder (Jesus did not exist). (1)

Theres a huge difference. There is evidence that shows that Jesus really did exist and coincides with Biblical accounts. A great source would be the "complete writings of josephus flavius" a historian around the time of Christ.
Zeus or Odin(who?) is mythology. Christ is real.
If Jesus wasn't real, the apostles wouldn't have given their lives up for what they believed in. Imagine facing the decision to either be burned at the stake or denounce Christ. Either be nailed to a cross or denounce Christ. Either be thrown in a vat full of boiling tar or denounce Christ.
The reason some people refuse to believe that Christ was, and is and is to come is because theyre ignorant (ooooh did i step on some toes)? :)

One of the premises Christianity is built off of is that heathen gods are false. The difference is that Jesus is the image the Father has of Himself in His divine intellect. Zeus and Odin are merely amplified humans, not examples of true divinity, even in a hypothetical sense.

Jesus is real.
Zeus and Odin aren't.
How can you say that Jesus is a myth when history proves it?

in christianity, jeudaism, catholicsm, etc. there is believed to be monotheism...or belief in one god. Jesus is the son of this one god.it may seem that there are in fact many gods, but there are not. this is automatically assumed by some b/c of the fact that people use God and jesus interchangeably. the Lord, Jesus, and the holy spirit are 1 person. zeus and odin come from cultures that are polytheistic, or believe in more than one god. thats the difference.
