In other words, how do you feed your spirit/soul? Do you do this by simply reading a book or attending a service or does it entail much more then that?
Please be respectful with your answers and be mindful of your words. No bashing please. And as always, please include your religious affiliation and or spiritual path.

I get my main "soul food" by being outside. That alone starts to recharge by batteries. When I cast my morning circle, just calling the Quarters and greeting the day, I am renewed. When I look at a flower for about 10 minutes, studying the intricate details in absolute wonder, and thinking about how many millions of flowers there are in the whole world, I am a tiny grain of sand with awe.

There is something about plants and trees, for me. Smelling them, tasting them, appreciating them for sustaining my life.

Reading feeds me, dreaming and walking both feed me, but nature Herself nourishes my soul.

Yep, just like we need food for our body, our soul also need food in the form of knowledge. Knowledge doesn't mean that informations gathering from books and scriptures. When an information comes in the form of experience, that time only it will become knowledge (gyan). Therefore we have to choose information that to be gathered on the basis of logic (yukti). For example we can take God. Different religions are defining God in different names and forms. But in common every religion is saying "God is Light". Christ pointed towards up and said He is light. Mosses saw "Jahoa"in the form of light. Muslims say "Al Noor" which means light. So that common factor of light we have to accept it and try to visualise Him. We will experience His existance, His love after all He is the ocean of knowledge also. Like that try to fill your intellect with straight, clear and logic information and try to experience it. Then only you can be called as a knowledgible soul.

God feeds us through His chosen means of grace: Word (The Bible: Law & Gospel) & Sacrament (Holy Baptism & Holy Communion). The Bible we can study by ourselves & with others outside of worship, but it is also given in many different ways in a worship service (where God serves us, not the other way around like many will try to convince you). Holy Baptism is received once & Holy Communion on a regular basis at a worship service or if needed in the home from a pastor.

We do well to receive these gifts as God gives & intends them. These things may *seem* mundane, but who are we to question God's means? (God taught this lesson to the Israelites well when they complained about the manna God provided (Numbers 11:4-34).)

I am an LCMS Lutheran. We uniquely, however biblically believe that the second person of the Godhead, Jesus Christ authenticates Scripture, (as opposed to believing in Christ *because* the Bible says so).

We also uniquely, yet biblically believe that it is God who creates/establishes (through His Word connected with Holy Baptism) & maintains (through His Word & Holy Communion) a relationship with humans, not vice versa. That is, we are spiritually dead until God revives us through Holy Baptism & we are spiritually helpless to bring ourselves to repentance on a regular basis without His Holy Spirit through His Word. This translates into the fact that neither the Word nor the Sacraments & their benefits are something we do, but something God does for us. (We believe this because to make the Word or Sacraments into something humans do turns them into a law which demands & deprives the believer of the pure Gospel which demands nothing).

We also uniquely, however biblically believe in the real & supernatural (as opposed to merely symbolic or spiritual), yet non-cannibalistic presence of Christ's body & blood in, with & under the bread & wine at the service of Holy Communion. (This is per Christ's own words). We are also (in ideal circumstances) sticklers for properly distinguishing Law & Gospel. All these things are taken by many as legalistic, but we protect this theology first & foremost out of love, thankfulness & devotion for our Creator, Redeemer & Sustainer, Jesus Christ & second out of love for our neighbor.

Below is a good resource for information about these means of grace among other things as well. If you want to know more than that, the entire Lutheran Confessions are also available online. You will find the means of grace discussed in short in Luther's Small Catechism & more in depth in the Large Catechism & the other documents listed on the page.

I try to get my food from sources that don't involve animal suffering or human exploitation. Regarding my "soul food" I get it from positive interpersonal relationships, readings (science, humanism, ethics) and cultural activities or activism (non-denominational charities, courses, science/ literature groups, animal rescue). Oh, and love from many people, but mainly from a special person, because all we have is each other.

I like walking by the river at dawn, or walking in the woods at dusk. I like to breathe, any old time. And I like to sit. I do like music whether its barefoot banjo, or Gothic organ. I could call myself a cultural episcopalian who believes that religion is just a language for the inexplicable.

Keeping in touch with God by praying and supplications,
Reading divine scriptures that tells us how God and his Prophets want us to live our life, read learn and obey the commandmens of God and how men of God do obey and in what way, which means learning to be near and in contact with God more often. These things strengthens faith in God and in your religion and while worshipping God you feel closeness to God., giving charity to poor people and feeling good., repenting God for forgiveness on our mistakes ec. etc. Reading and trying to understand the deeper meanings of the contents of Divine Scriptures.
