maybe the sites below can help you get started. good luck to you, i understand. i was adopted, my Mom was friends with my birth Mother...I am losing time to connect with my birth mother since I was born in 1962. I don't challenge my Mom on her relationship or knowledge of my birth Mom...out of respect. It's really tough sometimes. My best friend gave up her son 34 years ago and they recently connected (like 5 years ago) and they are very happy. So -- while am so happy for her...i am so jealous also. My family is very supportive so that helps...

You just go to a central library and look it up. But you have to know your correct date of birth and name at time of birth. They may be able to help you look up adoption records if you don't know the name you were born with. The local courts would have passed an adoption paper to make it legal. Good luck it's not impossible.

Kitti is right - you need something like your original birth certificate to get started. You will have to ask your family. Believe me, as an adopted child, they will be expecting your questions anyhow and will probably have already discussed how they will deal with this. Good luck - and take care - its not always what you want it to be.

It should be on your birth certificate. If you do not have a copy do you know which town you were born in? Because you would have been registered there. You can apply to the Registry Office for a copy of your birth certificate.

Start with any birth certificate, adoption records you have. Probably won't help much without family assistance though.

Why can't you ask your family? The fact that you know you are adopted means they must be open about it, they are probably waiting for you to ask these questions anyway.
