I am 18 and want to move out asap because my father is horrible and often abuses me and my sister mentally, verbally, and sometimes physically. However, I know I can move out, but I want to take my sister with me. She is only 16, what can I do to be allowed to take her out of this house legally? Money is not an issue.

call social services, tell them everything, let them know u want to take ur sister out of there asap, they will know how to do that the quickest way possible and it will be legal.... emancipation is one way but that will take time... social services will do something about it immediately.

God bless u and ur sister, may He send u angels to protect u and keep u safe and guide u to a better place....

I agree... Social Services can probably help by representing her and you to a judge so you can get custody of your minor sister for the next 2 years. The judge will issue an order to that effect and you will have some paper to show for it.
I don't think you need a lawyer for that.
You will probably have to prove you are financially capable of supporting her, or possibly apply for Assistance to get her through school. Talk all that over with Social Services, too.

Start by talking to your local child protective services. If there's abuse going on, they'll be interested in protecting her, and will be likely to help you. If that doesn't work out, you might want to consult a lawyer, but I'd start with them.

I'd talk to a lawyer...look in the Yellow Pages of your phone book. Many lawyers offer free consultations. Good luck!

She can get legally declared an adult b/c of the abuse if the authorities think she is ready...I forgot what it's called though...a girl at my job got it done.
