I been participating in many questions posted under Religion lately. I have seen question after question from non-Christians asking HORRIBLE questions and making really hateful statements about the Christian way of life. But not ONCE have I seen a tacky question asked about non-Christians. It is their business how they believe, although I wish I could get everyone to believe. But why do they feel the need to attack the Christian way of life? You don't see me coming on here and calling non-Christians names and liars. I tolerate even when I don't agree. When a question like that is posted, I voice my opinion but I don't "thumbs down" anyone just because I don't agree with what they are saying. But let me defend my Holy Savior and I get booed to death. That's fine, because I don't care what anyone but Him thinks of me or my answers. I just want to know why some non-Christians feel the constant need to put down Christians.

To those who call me narrow minded and accuse me of having a victim complex, please re-read my question. I simply and essentially asked why we could not all tolerate each other. That's about as broadminded as it gets.

Oh and the ones saying that there are Non-christian bashing questions on here all the time, I said that I had not seen them. I never said they didn't exist. And the ones calling me touchy...read your answer again...that seems to be the pot calling the kettle black.

To Trinity...Re-read the question...I wasn't putting anyone down. I was asking why Christians were being repeatedly put down. And I was in no mean ranting. It doesn't make me angry that it happens because I know what they are saying has no effect on MY salvation. It just scares me that people teetering on the fence of Christianity and non-belief may read some of this garbage and not have the faith to overlook it.

Ashleigh..I didn't feel I was adding to the debate when I added details. I just felt I was explaining myself to someone who may have misunderstood as inflection is nearly impossible in typing. I want to apologize upfront if I have said or done anything in the arena of this question to turn away a Christian or to give a Christian a bad name. I am all for defending my Savior. For I will not deny Him before man.

Jn 15:20 Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
Mt 5:11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

The name of the forum is, "Religion & Spirituality". It is not "Atheism & Paganism".
Your Christian religon is based upon the principal that You are better than everyone else, every other religion, and that it is Your duty to convert the heathen ('Godless') masses, and bring 'them' into Your fold. Point taken?
Life is full of situations that some of us are not willing to come to terms with. The right of the individual to express Their disbelief at Your believing in something contrary to Their individual philosophy is assured and protected by statute law throughout the Western world. This would appear to be one such situation that is beyond the sphere or Your comprehension.
You don't mind talking behind the backs of others, yet when confronted by direct confrontation, You weeken. Truely You have an interesting grasp on Your commitment to Your Lord.
If You, "don't care what anyone but Him thinks", then why are You adding to the debate and giving sceptics additional ammunition to use against other Christians? You, Yourself have asked a "tacky question asked about non-Christians". Nice logic!

I have found that it doesn't matter how many times someone ask for them not to name call, it just seems to make it worse. So I just answer the questions as if they were asking a serious question. And by doing so I am still able to tell them about God and His mercy. If they are too stupid , I just don't answer them. We either have to ignore them or just keep Gods love in our hears and give them an answer that will please God. But as Christians, we are the ones who are suppose to be tolerant, forgiving, and understanding. Yes it is hard sometimes, I know I have given some sarcastic responses myself. But I am trying to be more tolerant, even as hard as it gets sometimes because of the very rude and disrespectful things on here sometimes. But we need to be an example for God, so that others will see the truth in Gods words.

And to be fair, there are some people on here who say they are Christians, who do the same thing to atheists.

I am Christian myself, and I can totally understand where you are coming from. Not all religions are tolerant, in fact I dont know of a single religion in which ideas from other religions are considered correct. Religions try to make everyone see their points of view, and discriminate against all other religions. The thing about this ongoing conflict is that it is exactly that; ongoing. There is little proof of most religious ideas, and thats where faith comes into play, and people who have a different faith from mine have probably already navigated away from my post because of my first sentence.

It seems like this matter can't be solved on yahoo answers, but I know in my heart it will be solved in the end.

Unfortunately, it works both ways, and the interesting thing is that each side seems to make the same claims that you just made, each side claiming that people on the other side call them names or harass them or whatever.

Personally, I wish there could be more of a constructive exchange of spiritual ideas without all the bashing that goes on here all the time, but we all would need to exercise a lot of self-restraint for that to happen.

I am in support of your right to believe whatever works best for you and I wish you all blessings on your spiritual path. I have said this many times, but I will say it again: As a pagan, I believe that there is no one true path to spiritual good, and that we all go through this thing called life together. I hope you wish me well on my path, which although is different from yours, is just as valid and beautiful to me as yours is to you!

Bright Blessings,

You are absolutely right. Although, as people are saying, some questions are directed at atheists, when atheists bash it's always directed at Christians. They never seem to mention Jews or Muslims. I read several of them just today. Always "why do Christians"...never "why do believers".

I don't understand why atheists are even on here. They don't believe in God, so what is the point? It would be different if they were really interested in what makes believers believe, but they're only interested in making fun of us. And then they complain that Christians are arrogant!

I think the main motivation can be linked to childhood experiences (i.e. abuse at the hands of a professed Christian), or simply being sick and tired of the people who claim to be Christian, and behave in seriously non-Christian ways....Pat Robertson comes to mind...along with the ministers who yell about homosexuality and hellfire..and then are caught getting gay massages....

There are also many Christians who are intolerant of anyone and anything that does not fall under their personal umbrella of what is right.....

That is my opinion, anyway.

I think the number of people who truly try to follow the path that Jesus laid down are few and far between. The vast majority of Christians have lost their way...and the leaders are to blame....

Because believing in god is kind of like believing in Santa. If I met an adult who still believed in Santa, I would ridicule them just as much as I would a bible thumper. I hope someday man kind can live without the safety blanket of religion. I also hope they can differentiate right and wrong without the rules that go along with religion inhibiting their actions.

Ok, I agree that there is attacking going on, though more from both sides than just one. A Christian called me an "unblessed abomination" in regards to one of my questions. So I feel that everyone, Christian or otherwise, are getting in their fair share of jabs.

There are a significant number of "questions" and "answers" which contain hateful comments, allegedly made by christians, about non-christians. You need to read more questions and answers.

The same reason they mocked and beat our Lord. I think for some people, if they believe they have to be accountable. That is a hard thing to except. Just remember some of them will come to learn the truth. Just keep running the race as Paul talked about.

Stay strong.
