Thinking ahead here, If i do Want to stay in service(or not) I'd want to be an officer, so is it possible to do it in 4 years? (USAF)

How much free time would I have with work and college/school?

Depends on your job but it is virtually impossible to finish you degree in 4 years. Think about it for a second. It takes 4 years of full time school to get a Bachelors. Now how do you expect to fit 4 years of full time school in with a job that has you at work for 40-90 hours a week? That would be impossible. I almost completed my associates in my first 4 years.

It is hard to say. A lot depends on your job, where you are stationed, and your chain of command. A woman I work with has a daughter in the Marines who earned a degree during her first enlistment. You would have to be motivated and pretty much give up a social life. Then I have also known people that couldn't get any college while they were in the military. Their hours were just too crazy. Realistically I would say you should be able to get some college credits while in (maybe an associate degree), but not a 4-year degree in 4 years. Maybe try an admin. job. Not that they don't work hard, but I think that would be the best for having down time and working more normal hours.

Most military can only do a part time schedule for college. You will have to get your supervisor's permission for classes if they require a change in your schedule and for that reason, many military have switched from traditional classes to online universites, at least for part of their education. You will not be able to finish a bachelors in four years if you are active duty...6 is the norm, unless you are able to CLEP out the majority of your core classes. If you are already active duty and want to do OCS, talk to your commander about your options...they are in the best position to give you advice and steer you in the right direction Also set up an appointment at the education office..they can help with things like programs and options.

There are many distance learning oppertunaties in USAF.

Have you considered AFROTC? You would reveive your officer training while studying fulltime. They offer scholarships and stiphends you can use towards your fees.

You can enlist/reinlist in the USAF Reserve. This will allow you to maintain your enlistment status while attending school fulltime. This can be done with or without AFROTC.

Plenty of excellent distance learning Universities. Go for it that way. One of the guys in my old unit will be graduating this may online, and gets back from Afghanistan about two to three months later.
