Beside water, yes; instead of water, no. Always offer plenty of fresh water. Now that that is out of the way... cockatiels and other birds can drink many kinds of fruit juice and veg. juice safely. I do not recommend any with added sugar, fructose, corn syrup, molasses, salt or colorings. In short, fresh squeezed is best. Never give your bird alcohol as it speeds the heart. Also, never allow bird to drink soda pop, coffee, tea or other drinks containing caffeine. My bird (Quaker Parakeet) likes a tiny bit of milk. I intervene when I see him sneaking into the cereal bowl. Cockatiel parents can benefit from whole-grain bread soaked in skim milk while brooding.

I agree with Renee N. Be very mindful of the sugar/salt and other content of the juices your give your tiels. And try to squeeze juice from organic fruits and veggies only. Pesticides sprayed on reg. fruits and veggies can sometimes soak into the fruit/veggie and cause toxicity. Just wash whatever you use very well with a veggie wash (GSE & Water works great and is completely safe for humans and birds; see this link for all the uses of GSE and how much: http://www.theperch.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=12814 ). Good luck!

Yes it can. Birds can drink fruit juices also...the 100% natural organic kinds are the best. You can even take fruit stick it all in the juicer and make your own concoction....your bird will love you for it! I had a parakeet who LOVED applesauce and applejuice....its healthy and its breaks away from the monotany of seed, pellets, and water......just don't substitute it for the water and make sure you watch the sugar content. You don't want a fat little bird!

PS. I used to train a amazon who loved green tea!

i've had birds who would like to take a sip of my coffee or whatever i was drinking, but i didn't let them have more than a drink or two.. my parrot especially loves coffee...

i think water is the best thing you can give them, and make sure it's always clean.

take care

No. If you would like your cockatiel to be happy and healthy, water is the only fluid for it to drink.
