To answer your question one must examine what people in the Bible were told when they asked what to do. The first was Nicodemas who came to Jesus and asked Him what was needed to be a part of His Kingdom. Jesus answered that a person must be born again. Jesus then said a man must be born of water and the Spirit in order to have eternal life. Just a short time after He arose from the grave, Jesus told His disciples to go all over the world and preach the Gospel. He that believed and was baptized would be saved and he that did not believe would be condemned. With this fresh on their minds on the day of Pentecost, Peter and the other apostles preached to the multitude of Jews that were standing listening. He told them that they had crucified the Son of God and they immediately were upset and asked what they should do. Peter answered that they must repent and be baptized for the remission of their sins and they would get the gift of the HS. Did they believe? Yes that is why they cried out. Did they repent? yes Were they baptized the very same day? Yes In fact 3000 or more were baptized that day and the Lord added those who were being saved to the church. Carefully read thru the book of Acts and se what they were told to do each time the question of being saved came up. See if the pattern fits Jesus teachings.
It is more than just believing and asking Jesus into your heart. The heart has to be cleansed for Jesus to be there. That is accomplished through belief repentence and baptism.
We have to remember when we study the Bible who was speaking, who they were speaking to and what were the circumstances. many want to look at Romans to show that we only have to confess and believe. But Romans was written to the church or people who were already saved. The logic of Paul telling people who were already saved how to get saved just doesn't match. Perhaps Paul was telling the saved church members how to keep their salvation by continuing to believe and confess. if you really want to know what The Bible says about salvation, go to www.wecaretoday.net and find the icon about the Gospel presentation and watch the video. It is plain and simple and very Biblical

When your heart is enlightened to receive the Lord , you would know it immediately because you will feel a sense of peace filling your being. When this happens your spirit has been born and you are now able to understand the Truth through your spirit. Its important that you always contact your spirit before praying or reading the bible . You will see a great difference in your understanding. example: If after a long day of work I come home and just pick up the bible and start reading, the words on the page are merely words, but when I pray and ask for Jesus to wash me of my sins, which we do daily, I feel a flow of Life come out of the Words and it becomes Life. God bless

If you repent of your sins, and ask for forgiveness of your sins, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead and make Him Lord of your life. You shall be saved. Just remember that when you call someone Lord, that the word "no" cannot come afterward. "No, Lord" is an oxymoron. Once you say no, He is no longer Lord Is He? God bless!!!

You also need to admit you are a sinner in need of a savior. Jesus died to pay the debt for your sins (and mine) That's it. There is no requirement to be baptized or partake of the Lord's supper (symbolic bread and "wine") in order to be saved. Baptism is an act of obedience which follows salvation and represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Salvation is a gift from God and like any gift, all you need to do is accept it.

Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon fa rock:
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Matt. 24: 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Rev. 20: 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
There is much more to being a Christian than merely accepting Jesus as Lord and that He rose from the grave... you must believe in what He taught and showed by example. That will take studying with patience to learn what all that entails.

Jesus is Lord. If you believe God raised him from the dead, you know he did so to show he wiped our sins away. Now that you have been saved from your sins, you need to replace that with something. Draw near the Lord and He will draw near to you. I have been saved from my sins and have the pleasure of walking with God.

First you have to recognize that you sinned and confess it to God. You know He paid a price to redeem you and to give you eternal life.
You know let me tell you this little story about ants. See that one day a person was plowing the earth and he saw a big anthill on the way. Well since he loved the ants very much and didn't want to have them killed, think of what could he do to save them and tell them of this terrible death moving right on them. The only thing he can do is become an ant himself and then he could tell them of the danger.
Same with God He sent His only son to the earth so they could be saved!

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Once one desires to be save then the next step is to seek God for yourself pray to the Father (God) for understanding of His word, and every day pray for the Armour of God Eph 6:11 and the Holy Ghost these two are very essential. The more you read your Bible the better off you will be in life. After the first time you read your Bible it gets better.

Yes. That's what He said.
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
DON'T get bogged down when you read it! Read it over if you think you might be missing something.
e-mail me if you have a problem understanding anything in it.
