Is it just me or has YA Phiippines suddenly become a place to solicit friendships & companions?

Not that this is a bad thing perse but If ever, how would you feel about it?

Does this have anything to do with the common stereotypes foreigners have of the Filipino people?

And does it have any impact on Filipinas?

What do you think?

re stereotypes:

okay because there are so many inquiries about this, let me just give one.

mail order brides, for it would pain me to think that some people out there might actually be thinking that YA Philippines can be used as a dating / solicitation/ mail order site. & worse, a site for sexual predators. no, not on my watch.

thanks for the comments windblown.

I apologize for our answers last nite...sweetwater and I were just playing. Your post deserves a serious answer and I'll try to give you one. Of course, you're not referring to regular YAPpers...you're referring to people who'd post stuff like "looking for friends...blah..blah" thinking that this a dating site or a chat room. Well, these posts are beyond our control...we are in no position to stop them. So the best we can do is direct them to the proper sites. Now if their posts are outright nasty and demeaning to Pinoys/Pinays, we can always flag them. Does it personally bother me - no!, coz I refuse to be responsible for their ignorance and crude behavior.

I do think it's you as I have not noticed any real friendship/companion soliciting.
What, pray tell, is the "common stereotypes foreigners have of the Filipino people?" I am a foreigner and I know that Filipino's are, like everybody else in the World, individuals

Ok, Japs, a longer .... not necessarily more insightful answer coming up:

There was once a Grouch who lived in Riyadh, all alone.
And every day, he lives like this:

"Day after day alone on the hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still,
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool,
And he never gives an answer,
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning around.

Well on his way his head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices talking percetly loud
But nobody ever hears him,
Or the sound he appears to make,
And he never seems to notice,
But the fool on the hill . . .
Nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do.
And he never shows his feelings,
But the fool on the hill . . ."

And then, he found YAP. END OF STORY.

Japs, perhaps the reason friendships are formed is because a lot of the participants here are often at this site. Somehow, one gets to know the different persona here.

Stereotypes? Hmmm, what would these be?

•Friendly? Sure we are.
•Sense of humor? We got that too.

Impact on the women? It depends on how open-minded the person is. The higher the level of understanding one has, the more that person will realize that this is virtual reality.

I think we Filipinos are just naturally friendly, and we happen to exchange banter on this site. I haven't really seen any soliciting.

And yes, as a Missing Persons Bureau. Just a while ago, I was searching for Roszi. Then someone said Migs was not present. I guess that is just the way it is between friends, no matter if mere cyberfriends.

Friendships - yes in a sense. All the regulars and some vistors here, I consider as friends already. That includes you.
Companions - some will attempt to use this site but will realize later on that they're in the wrong site. It seems remote to me that this site will be used to get 'companions'. They will go to the dating sites. Besides, we are so many here to guard this site. That includes you also my friend.

Not only that, I have also noticed that it has become a missing persons bureau where some inquiries are made regarding the whereabouts of so-and-so.
