you could trim them a bit but be very careful not to cut into the quick. You can buy some "bleedstop" in case you do trim one too short, then you just put the powder on the nail and it stops bleeding. Birds can bleed to death from this very easily, so just be cautious!

Usually chickens toenails wear down naturally and do not need cut. Chickens need their claws for foraging for food in the dirt. I would not recomend cutting them. Are you keeping them on a wire floor? That may be why they are growing so long. They need that wear and tear from scratching to keep their nails the right length.
Occasionally chicken's nails do grow long despite this, sometimes it's genetic, and sometimes it happens to old chickens who are not in their prime health. If the chicken is hurting you with her nails/claws, you can cut them, but otherwise, I don't think it's necessary.

I have raised chickens by the hundreds. I can't recall ever
seeing one that needed there toenails trimmed. They do a
good job themselves with there scratching. If you have only
a few and you want to keep them from flying over a fence
you can do so by clipping the flight feathers on one wing
only. Hopefully they won't need to fly to escape a hungry dog.
I would not trim any toenails. Love the chickens. Good luck.

Yes you can cut them with clippers. You should be able to find them at a feed and seed store or a Tractor supply or maybe a vets office would have them. You can also clip their wings with scissors if them fly over the fence.
