How can I learn to pray again, and bring genuine prayer back into my life?

My family has been through severe stress and trials lately. It seems that my faith was damaged and I am having a horrific time in my attempts to communicate with God.

I used to be the biggest prayer enthusiast you ever met! What has happened to me?

Honey we all get tired. It doesn't mean we don't love God any less. Just make a firm decision to get up and pray & read your Bible everyday,even If you don't feel like It. God will honor your efforts and before you know It You'll be back on track again. Remember Elijah ? He killed over 400 false prophets and because One woman threatened him,he ran and hid and asked God to take him. He was depressed. Yes that great man of God that called down fire from heaven. why pray. i tell you, God,? the one we call god whos name isnt really god. and dont confuse this with jesus christ, he aint no god, he was the enlightment, the savior, the one to suppose to raise our concious mind to a higher level but didnt have the chance because we killed him. and humans misinterpreted the whole thing. but thats okay, were still forgiven. we are innocent because jesus christ excused us from this God that We have to realize, the one without a name. and i cant say it was jesus christs fault. I can't say about your experience, but for me everyday life has a tendency to bring me down. The bible tells us to pray alone in the privacy of our rooms and thats usually my time, while I lie in bed when its quiet and I can focus on God. Somtimes I even pray myself to sleep. I have God’s blessing of a faith in Him that is built on the sure foundation of Jesus. So come hell or high water, I am assured that because of Jesus my faith will not fail. However, while growing up I found it difficult to pray and used to get lost with words struggling to come out, but unable to determine what to say. Now, when I teach little children or adults under pressure (in Bible study and prayer groups :-) on how to pray, I ask them to say a one sentence of “Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus” or to say thank you for this day or for the countless blessings in our lives. Learn to be thankful to God for all that you have, and by His grace you will once more be able to communicate with Him, better than ever!
