It seems God gave us a clear guideline.
Homosexuality didn't make the top 10 even though at the time Moses was receiving the Commandments, the people were engaging in homosexual behavior at the bottom of the mountain.

You have the short form, in the Old Testament there are more than 10 Commandments in fact to be precise there are a total of
612 Commandments in the Bible delivered by God to adress the situations as they came. For example witchcraft is not mentioned in the 10 but elsewhere it is condemned several times and witches are condemned to death as are homosexuals.

It wouldn't be the 10 commandments if there were 11. And 10's a nice number.

Ok, seriously now..
Not all the laws are in the 10 commandments (obviously). The Jews have 613 laws (inc 10 commandments) that they keep.

Not to say any law is more important than the others, but i think that the 10 commandments were perhaps as they are because they are effecting others (ie violation of others/God). Homosexuality is a consensual thing (in the area we are talking about) and although it is a sin, it does not harm someone in the same way as the 10.

However, i don't know why God picked the 10 as those 10, but it is clear from other passages in the Bible that homosexuality is NOT ok by God. (But nor is lying)

The ten commandments are the "core" of the old covenant. The rest of the commandments had no less weight to them.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

As you can see, homosexuality is an abomination to God, and was to have dire consequences upon the individual and the nation that allowed it.

As far as the people engaging in homosexual behavior while Moses was upon the mount, this is purely speculation on your part.

Haven't you seen Mel Brooks' "History of the World. Part I". Moses comes down the mountain with 15 commandments but drops one of the tablets and proclaims there are only 10 commandments.

It wasn't too high a profile of an abomination out there in the desert (too much sand blowing around and packing into body crevices) but it did warrant a mention in the bible:

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

I don't think so that it is a sin or wrong to be homosexual. As for religious point of view I don't know. It is present in nature and natural for some human beings. All I care about is the person, I don't care about his beliefs and ideology if they don't cause harm to others.

I believe that God wants to have a relation with everyone. I believe the relationship between a man and a woman is God's representation of His relationship with His people. Perhaps, the people would naturally be "straight" if they trully worshiped only Him and loved Him with all their heart. I mean, the people in the Bible most noted for loving God were straight.

The word we translate as adultery is a catch all word that encompasses all sexual sins. Thus homosexuality is forbidden in the seventh commandment. What we normally think of as adultery is actually more specifically covered in the 10th commandment "..You shall not covet your neighbor's wife..."

Interesting point.

Ever heard George Carlin's take on the ten commandments? Too funny.

if the 10 commandment forbid adultery between two different sexes, so can you imagine two men having sex with each other?
