I know the media only shows apartments but yes, there are private houses with backyards, gardens,etc

probably against some type of a city ordinance and I bet your neighbors would just love having a rooster at the break of dawn on their weekends and days off,LOL! hey if your gonna have chicken you gotta have fresh eggs so you would need a rooster! screw em if they can't take a joke! Hey...some neighbors you just can't take anywhere.

In New York folks would be complaining about the noise of the birds and the smells. Yes, I know, New York is one of the noisiest places and smelliest places as well. But THOSE are the sounds and odors of Money!!! Not much money to be gained by folks raising their OWN meat and eggs. LOL
Actually New York has ordinances against livestock witin the city limits. Mostly because of how to handle the excrement and offal of the livestock.

I guess that it's stereotypical that everyone in new york lives in an apartment and there's tons of pollution from all the cars and stuff. I guess making it harmful to raise a chicken....lol...

Health hazard? Even stepping in cow patties is not as disgusting as chicken poo. Besides, the idiot rooster might crow at the dawn. Then I, or you would have unpleasant neighbors.

Well it depends on where in NY you are of course.. In NYC probably not, but I see plenty of them in peoples yards here in Western NY..... It just depends on the city ordinances of where you live.
