Don't worry! I'm not getting inked for another three months. I'd just like to toss some ideas around. I'm thinking of getting either ON a shoulder blade or in between my shoulders. Here are some things I'm thinking of-- feed back?
j'en sais quois "I don't know what" french Something you'd say about someone with an indescribable quality.
aestuo " I burn " connotatively with passion or desire latin
Does anyone have any french/italian/latin idioms that have a powerful meaning? Things most important in my life are passion for living life to the fullest, my husband, and my family.
I want to have lots of options and really think it through before I get it permanantly on my body.
Also I lost my father in March. I don't want his face on my shoulder or his name on my wrist. Something subtle. General ideas on remembering loved ones in tattoos? I know you didn't KNOW my dad specifically- but any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Okay the tombstone idea was a little creepy to me lol, nothing morbid please, same for the eyeballs. Wow. I'm gonna start asking these questions in the morning and not at night when people are thinking a little "off" ty guys

Both pharses seem fine to me.
About your dad. i'd get a tombstone tatoo with dad written in an asian character or something about your dad on it. Like if your dad was a musician have a music note on the gravestone. if your dad liked baseball have a baseball bat tatooed on the gravestone etc.

EDIT: Ok instead of the tombstone, tatoo something that really represents your dad. Like the examples I gave above. Around it write your dad's name birthdate to death date.

Whenever Im thinking of getting another tat (I have 5 and about to go for 6) i look on where I'm at in my life at that point. For my 1st tattoo, I got in memory of my grandmother her had passed. Her favorite flower was a rose, so i got a simple rose laid over a cross. My favorite tat is on my foot, it's a flower, because on my 24th birthday, while my father was in Iraq, he called me and told me that I was the flower blossom of my parent's relationship (i know, he can be a cornball sometimes, but I love him). All of my tats have some sort of special meaning to me and no one can tell you what has special meaning to you. As for subtle places.... surprisingly the inside of your wrist is not very noticable (I worked with my coworkers for two years and some of them are just now noticing it). Also, your thigh, or anywhere you think only you're husband will see. I've been very systematic with mine lol, (when I wear my wedding dress or any formal wear for that matter, the only one that will be seen is the one on my wrist and my butterfly on my shoulder). and I never get anything too big.

if you have friends that are already inked up, find out which parlor they would recommend you and check them out. Most places will have hundrends of stencils that will give you ideas of what you want. And they'll work with you for any type of customization you might require.

I know this was a bit on the wordy side, but when it comes down to it, you are the only one that has to be happy with it. Find something that represents you, and you can not go wrong. Hope this was helpful, good luck!!!

Carpe Diem- Seize the day in Latin
i'm sure you've heard of it- basically it could symbolize that you're someone who doesn't take crap- or that you are going to live everyday to the last to make up for your father's days he's missed- or something along those lines.
Hope that helped!

Also, the kid above spelled simper fi wrong- it's semper fidelis which means "always faithful"

are you looking for something feminine or something kind of neutral? most people with memorial tattooes find something that reminds them of that person, angel wings, an angel, etc.

don't do it!
you can have a necklace made or a symbol or script.that would be unusual.
for your dad, I planted a tree in the yard and smile every time I look at it. Its been there since 1988
