I go into a hypercontrol mode. I need to know everything that is going on and what next needs to be done. I would probably put myself in charge of something like calling and making arrangements for the work// school he'll be missing, rides and other things that may need to be taken care of. I tend to check my emotions for later at the onset of a crisis. The more I can control and fix, the longer I can hold off dealing with the emotion of whats going on.

i would panick and loose all control.
one of the worst things i can imagine is getting that dreaded phone call in the middle of the night (or any time).
me and my ex were asleep and around 3am the phone rang. it was madness from then on. he had to go to the morgue and ID the body of his little brother killed in a car wreck...his mother couldn't bring herself to do it. i always rubber neck at an accident to make sure it's not one of my children.

I would be freaked out if it were my brother OR my son! Wrecks scare me. But seeing that he was alive would calm me down some.

I probably would not portray any outward emotion initially the shock would be to much, and I would be trying to stay out of the way, trying to find out what happened and be as close to him as possible.
