We use frontline every month. A few weeks ago my pup went swimming and apparently the frontline could not hold up to the chlorine and washed away. A week later he went to the country and picked up a few fleas. Reapplied the frontline as scheduled and a week and a half later he still has the fleas. Had to give him a Capstar pill yesterday and I think today he is flea free. Once they are in your house you must wash everything, bedding, yours and the dogs. vaccum the house well and fog. This will kill the fleas but not the eggs. WIthin the next 10 days you must fog again to kill the baby fleas after they hatch but before they lay eggs. Im pretty sure about the 10 days but you can check me on that. Any room fogger will work. Use front line on all of your animals.
I would like to stress again the need to fog a second time after the eggs hatch and before the new fleas have time to lay eggs. This will break the cycle.

Honestly, the best answer is to just bug bomb the house. We had fleas really bad one summer and tried everything we could think of...dawn dish soap in bowls, sticky pads with night lights, and so on. We finally just gave our inside cats baths with dawn dish soap (it really does kill fleas!) in the morning and then put them outside in the dog crate. We set off bug bombs and left for the day. Once you have them bad, it's the best way to do the job. You can also spray around the house because fleas can live in the dirt. They can go for like years without feeding off an animal before they breed. Nasty little creatures they are!! Good luck!

I find Advantage works well. Give your dog a deep water bath with a good flea shampoo the apply the Advantage.
Spray your house and all spots where the dog hangs out and dont forget the dusty corners and under furniture.

Start with vacuming all of your furniture. Make sure that your dog or cat is medicated with anit-flea solution. That way it will stop the fleas from coming in and multiplying. Hope this helps you!

You should use a mixture of boric acid and salt. Boric acid acts as a desiccant and dries out the exoskeleton of the flea, but does not have any side effect on human beings or animals. Check this out http://pests.in/fleas.html

Frontline is the best flea repellent unless your dog is allergic. For a home remedy you can feed your dog garlic powder every other day. You can also put down cedar mulch around the perimeter of your back yard to deter them. Also washing your dog in dawn dish washing detergent (not every day or you will completely dry out your dog's skin). Good luck!
