I go to Thompson and Waterford Speedbowl all the time and sometimes Jack Arute's Stafford Motor Speedway all in Connecticut. The modifides rule in CT but get no love outside the Northeast. I always wait for Mike Joy to make a comment on Thompson or Stafford every week he announces a race.

But I mean local short tracks. I go to New Hampshire every year but I don't count that as my local track. You gals are listing tracks that are hundreds of miles apart. My 3 tracks are all within 100 miles of each other.

I got to Stafford, Thompson and Lime Rock. I go for the mods and prostocks. I cut back my support on the Busch East series to only LRP. I use to love it for the local talent, but after this year BES is just another feeder system to fill the Nextel void.

I see a difference between those that support the Nascar Cup/Busch/Truck tracks, and those that support the local tracks.

Yes Las Vegas has a 1.5 mile Super Speedway, but they also have a great 3/8 Bullring and a dirt track (when they use it). I have a spot in the tailgate section for the year.

How about instead of saying "Local Racing", how about a series such as the Nascar Weekly Racing Series, or the Nascar Whelen Series? Your not going to the track once or twice a year. A serious fan would be at the track 10 to 20 or more times a year.

My local track is Macon Speedway in Macon, IL (as mentioned by Kenny Wallace on Speed TV's Raceday). It's owned by Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart, and local promoter Bob Sargent. I've been to I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO, which is owned by Ken Schrader. It's a really great track!! My cousin is going to be running there this upcoming weekend (he usually runs Macon, as does my dad, an uncle, and another cousins). There are also about 10 more tracks within 100 miles of here. I also go to the only 2 mile dirt tracks on the ARCA circuit, The Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL, and the Southern Illinois State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, IL.

I do. I go to every race night possible at our local track and sometimes to the race park in the next town over.

For NASCAR, I have been to a few tracks, only 1 more than once and for the record though my Dad helped build California speedway (Fontana) I don't like it much 'cause the racing there is often pretty boring.

I attend Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City Kansas. The track that produced Clint Bowyer. Just last night I watched a Dirt Late Model champions invitational that featured a 50 lap barnburner of a feature. There was also a Modified shootout featuring Nascar faves Kenny Wallace, Kevin Harvick and Bowyer. Friday night Lakeside held a Late Model shootout with Bowyer, Harvick, Ken Shrader, and Richard Childresses Grandson Austin Dillon who drove a dirt late model fashioned as the intimidator black #3 and he was amazing. www.lakesidespeedway.net

I also go to Crandon International Raceway for the best off-road racing there is.Crandon is known all throuout the off-road clubs as the best short course off-road track.

My local track is Greenville/Pickens Speedway(SC), I still want to go check it out someday. GPS was actually a stop on the Cup tour until 1971, so the place has a lot of history behind it. In fact cup teams still test here as well, which is pretty cool. And one more cool fact, Ralph Earnhardt was a 2-time track champion here. There's also a couple dirt tracks in the area as well which is high on my agenda to check out.

I wouldn't love NASCAR as much as I do if it wasn't for growing up @ my local dirt track. Stateline Speedway before it closed down was one of the greatest dirt track facilities in North East Texas. They had to shut down due to some idiots buying the land west of the track and making some huge apartments which led to a noise law. We have a local track now about 10 miles from their in Mandeville, AR so it's not to bad. I have to say our "local" track here isn't up to par w/ our surrounding tracks. Kudos to Arklatex Speedway in Vivian, LA, Southwest Arkansas SuperSpeedway in Nashville, AR, and Boothill Speedway in Shreveport, LA. That is some of the best racing on dirt!

You know I love NASCAR, but it would be nowhere without dirt trackin'! So many drivers make their start at the local tracks. I remember seeing Kasey Kahne race a sprint many times, seems like he must have been just a babe, he's still so young!
We go to Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway regularly, and we used to frequent Susquehanna and Silver Springs. Sprint cars are awesome fun to watch! Modifieds are great, too, they used to run them at Susquehanna, but I think they just couldn't compete with the sprint tracks around here.
BTW, National Open at Williams Grove this weekend, the PA Posse is going to whoop the Outlaws!
