Ask your instructor. Assignments aren't made in a vacuum, unless of course you class is "Zen and the art of photography."
If you don't understand the assignment or are not sure how to complete it, you need to get that information from your instructor. You can certainly get so good (and some not so good) answers here, but the person you need to please is your instructor.
That said, look for something incongruous, something that doesn't fit together. Try photographing a familiar object from an unusual angle. Look for something out of the ordinary.

Find an abandoned building. Set up a card table with white tablecloth, candelabra and fancy china and silverware. Get 2 friends to pose in formal wear sitting at the table. Pose them alone and together in various places around the building.
Visit AIRC-Adorama Imaging Resource Center. Click on SFX Photography.
Take photos of litter - a crushed can, broken bottle, etc.
Use your imagination.

i use that site whenever I need a boost of inspiration.
Odd is quite simple, really. Look for anything or anyone that stands out. A great photo that came to mind would be taken from above, like from a balcony, during rain, and catching all these black umbrellas, with a random colorful one dispersed in the middle.
