Is Pentagon City really a city?

Is Pentagon City really a city? When I visited Washington DC I remember the subway had a stop at the Pentagon called Pentagon City. What city is that in? I think it's actually across the river from Washtington DC. On the news though, they always show the Pentagon as being in Washington.

The Pentagon is in Arlington Va, across the Potomac river from DC. It is called a city because it has its own zip code.
To the jerk that wondered why it has five sides. It is to symbolize the five different Armed Services of the US. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.

Pentagon City is a neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia. It is right next to The Pentagon. It has a huge shopping mall (The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City), lots of other stores, office buildings, condominiums and restaurants.

Also, there is a Metro stop at The Pentagon as well as another one at Pentagon CIty (under the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City Mall).

And while the address of The Pentagon is in Washington, DC, it is actually located across the Potomac River in Virginia.

"Pentagon City" is an "Urban Village" - a buzz word of urban planners to create a multi-purpose self-contained community. Almost a small-town feel neighborhood. It includes shopping, both local shops & malls (Most people know Pentagon City for the Fashion Center Mall), restaurants, condos, homes, recreation, etc.. No he pentagon is not city just a really really big building. Do you want to know how wasteful the pentagon is . . . it is a building with 5 sides. almost every other building has 4, but they need a spare.
