If you are tailgating at a concert or something and "event staff" (not police) try to hold you for public drunkeness until police come is that legal? You would have every right to run from them right? This is outside of the event, say in the parking lot.

If you are in the parking lot of the venue, you ARE within whatever jurisdiction the 'Event Staff' has. In many cases, they CAN detain you until Police arrive, but the type of event and location would need to be known to give an accurate answer.

I noticed contradictory answers about a 'citizens arrest'. This also depends on where you are. Some states DO recognize a citizens arrest as an actual arrest. It is not often exercised even where legal. It is much easily to sue a private citizen for 'false arrest' than to sue the police.

If they catch you, they can hold you for criminal investigation, untill law enforcement arrives,if the police determine a felony was committed, the staff would be asked if they wanted to make a citizens arrest,if you are a minor and the police decided to arrest you for P.I. They would. There are a lot of varibles here, just Behave!

Wrongo wino breath. You are on private property and event staff are agents of the owner. When you come on private property you accept the owner's rules. If you break these rules, especially if you pose a safety risk to yourself or others, you can be detained. Look on the ticket you bought.

Why don't you try acting like a responsible adult and respect the rights of the property owner and others at the event. Or stay home and soak your brain.

you can run from them seeing they are not actual sworn officers. there would be no additional charges for trying to run.

In some states security has the right to detain but not arrest people who do something in their area of responsiblity. yuo would have to check your states laws regarding this

Even though it is called a citizens arrest they are not actually arresting you. A police officer has to be present to make it offical.

They are making a private person's arrest. They will then turn the arrest over to the police. Its that simple.

The parking lot is on their grounds so they can and will detain you, and legally so.

Citizens arrest is legal, right?
Do what you please, but don't expect the police to believe you(drunk) over them(sober).
