What kind of topsy turvy world is this when Christians try to redefine the word religion?
Religion is belief in a deity with dogma.
This is even more absurd since so many Christians in Yahoo continually try to claim atheism is a religion!
Why are Christians trying to deny Christianity is a religion?
Oh, btw..if your church isn't a religious organization, you may want to notify the IRS and they'll review that tax exempt status for you.
The ENTIRETY of the Tanach ( Jewish Bible) is about the relationship of Israel with God. This doesn't remove the fact that Judaism is a religion.
The Christian Bible is the doctrine/dogma of the Christian religion. You wouldn't have a "relationship" with Jesus without the dogma of the New Testament. If you worship a deity and have any form of doctrine to follow, you are an adherent of a religion. Christianity may deal with a relationship with Jesus, but that doesn't remove the fact that it is also a religion.
Can someone explain why the denial?

No, for several different reasons. First, people don't normally label a relationship they have with another person. Not a general label such as Christianity. Secondly.... how can Christians be protected under the Freedom of Religion amendment if they aren't participating in a religion? It's impossible to be protected under that if it isn't a religion. Third - the definition of Religion is "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. " Christianity definitely falls under this definition.

When Johnny Cash landed in England and got off his plane, a reporter asked him, I understand that you have religion. Johnny Cash then said; You can have religion and worship a hog. I'm a Christian. To him, it was more than just religion. And I agree.

YES, I agree. You'd be surprised how many people still think there is a church building religion that must be the one true church. Jesus alone is the only way.

Christianity = Message of Jesus according to PAUL.
The true message of Jesus was to the Jews and included the Mosaic law.
Paul made a gentile version of the message of Jesus and added some pagan ideas into it to make it attractive.

No, it is just another religious belief.
Only Christians have this relationship because they believe in Christianity which is a religion.
