This is for some people whose lives are really the s--thole if you know what I mean. They could have both legs amputated via no fault of their own, gotten raped and contracted viral microorganisms in the body, been beaten so many times as a POW they are warped in the mind? Well, in these extreme cases and many nuances in between, I really wonder how can we ever blame them for rejecting God?
I feel as if YES, it is fact that we weren't given the same footing, nor the the same pains... Yet, we must end in the same destination!! Life is painful and I admit in this trend of thought, I could foil and close my eyes in sheer agony.
Yes, indeed Nichodameus (spelling?) who had all the looks, power, and influence couldn't ultimately accept Christ, but what about if you had less than nothing and then thrown to the dogs? What about that feral-like child who couldn't acquire language after taken out of the dungeon of a basement after being locked up for 12 years (?) or so...Ahh...

Hold your horses!!!
This is my concern about the state of the world. Scientists, read carefully. I said this is for "some" odd cases, how can one blame them?

I've already credited and appreciate atheists for their thoughtfully laid out comments--surely, I need not continue with every post.. ?

Think about it this way: "religion", as a whole, is introduced to everyone in different forms and taught in different ways. Many people are taught it in an oppressive way. Others are taught in an enlightened way. Still others are introduced to it in a very distorted way. While, still others have it forced upon them. Others aren't taught at all, while still others look for it on their own.
Its no wonder we have believers, non-believers, nut-cases, die-hards, agnostics, those who ride the fence, those who oppose it.
You can't blame many people who oppose religion due to the fact that they may have been introduced to religion in a negative way. And you can't blame people who became spiritual because of an enlightening experience.
If a person who at one time was a die-hard athiest has a supernatural experience that changed his life and his beliefs tries to tell another athiest of his experience, don't expect that second athiest to change his beliefs, also.
Many athiests simply never have had an enlightening experience that was too extraordinary to explain logically. So they naturally stick to their beliefs. Would you blame them??
Thats why some people are firm believers, because they feel within their hearts that something more is going on, because they experienced it firsthand. An athiest who's never experienced it will NEVER understand.
But there are others who simply believe despite experiencing nothing within their hearts. They go through the motions of religion, but their hearts aren't any closer to goodness that they would be if they didn't "practice" their religion.
And thats what it comes down to...how good a person is in their heart. Whether or not a person believes what the next person believes, its what is in that person's heart that really matters. Compare a kind, compassionate athiest to an oppressing, vindictive "christian" who thinks that everyone who doesn't believe what he does is going to hell and you will see a difference between who they are despite their "beliefs".

According to scripture, all those 'ickie' things happen because of God.
Isa 45:7 I form Light and create darkness, I make weal(well-being) and create woe(misery/sin), I am the Lord, who do all these things.
Deut 32:39 "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.
EXO 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?
Though even 'Jesus' said that a person can deny him...Mat 12:32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Are you seriously proposing that only screwed-up people become atheists?! You just insulted me, most of my friends and practically every scientist who ever lived!
No wonder atheists look down their noses at simple-minded believers who think blind belief is worth more than rational thought - and will kill us to prove it!

I agree that people that have been dealt a really s.h.i.t.t.y. hand should not be blamed for not hacing faith.
they have had horrible lives, and to them...they think "if god loved me so much, why is he letting this happen"
Well, if anyone wants to know, I could tell you.
And It has nothing to do with god, so I wont be bible beating you

Say what you will, but I see many in poverty sticken nations drawing closer to God, not cursing him.
Many an empty belly and a prayer answered, the prayer being food that has just been unloaded off a plane that was sent by others who believe in God, is God moving among his children.

Take solace in the fact that we're are all equal in death. We all go to the same place - a hole in the ground.
Unfortunately, those who life has really screwed tend to be _more_ religious. It's a funny old world, eh?

The person who is sane, pubescent and heard the basic messages of the Messengers of God, is not excused from not believing that God Exists.
If a person has a certain calamity or hardship in their life, believing in God and in the Messengers of God would be good for them because only then would their patience be rewarded. They may get so much reward from their patience that their status exceeds the status of those who do not have their calamity.
However, disbelieving in God and objecting to Him and not submitting to the Wisdoms behind things that we do not see, will only get that person to worse and worse situations.

Thankfully, just because you 'really believe' something doesn't make it so. Most people don't 'reject god' any more than they reject the Invisible Pink Unicorn - in order for one to reject something, it has to exist to begin with.
Also, let's assume for just a second that the book of Job was real - how do you explain that?
