Growing up on the border I saw first-hand what illegal immigrants TEND to do (there are exceptions)

1. farm worker
2. restaurant worker (usually busser, dishwasher)
3. maid / janitor
4. yard work
5. handyman / repairer (lawnmowers, etc...)
6. fast food worker
7. grocery stocker
8. construction worker (roads, parking lots etc..., not fancy stuff like buildings)
9. house painter
10. mover

And on and on and on. Generally these are low paying jobs that don't pay a competitive wage for what most American citizens think they're worth, and therefore most of us aren't in competition with them for these jobs, except teenagers, etc... I worked fast food and grocery for 5 years but now that I have a college degree there's no way in HELL I'll ever do that again.
It's our own tightfistedness that keeps illegal immigrants coming. Is it wrong that I'd rather pay $1500 to get my house painted than $5000? (just an example) I think we are causing our own problem.

These are traditionally jobs taken by the working poor. With no illegals to do the job, the wages would have to raise to compensate for taxes and insurances THEN our working poor could go off welfare and once more become "working".

And no, at this age, I wouldn't want these jobs...but while in college, I worked as a maid and my husband got through college working for a tobacco farm.

So many people think otherwise because so many are racist against white Americans. Illegals draw welfare by stealing people's social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits. My family moved to the US before WWII. Those of my family that didn't make it over got killed by the death camps. Our family assimilated to the American culture. We didn't expect the Americans to change to suit us. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are not civilized like that. They not only changed the National Anthem to Spanish, they changed the words. They already burn our flag and hang our flag upside down. They waved the Mexican flag during a lot of their protests. Some schools have stopped hanging the American flag and forbidden students from wearing clothes with any part of the American flag on their clothing all to keep from offending the Mexicans. It's nothing short of an attack of our country, not only by the illegal aliens, but those who seek to appease them. I am tired of the stereotype that Americans wouldn't do the work that illegals do. Illegals do all kinds of jobs for less than minimum wage which drives the wages down for U.S. citizens. Construction jobs are an example. There are lots of illegals doing construction jobs that Americans used to do because the companies can keep more of the profits if they pay less for the workers. All that does is make companies wealthier and Americans poorer. Illegals are stealing jobs that Americans have done for years.

I have done 4,5,8,9,and 10 so what is your point? That you are too good to get your hands dirty? In fact I have done all of that and still made less then $14,000, in a year. Fact is though the job that I use to get $10/hour to preform--construction landscaping--is now worked by an illegal for $7.

And yeah our teenage Citizens they should not be able to have a decent job--right? Just so that you do not have to pay more for lawn care? Pathetic!

And yes it is wrong for you to undermine your Country--well at least MY Country--to save a few dollars. Wrong and shortsighted!! Face it if you accept that paying illegals less than a Citizen then you are just as much to blame as the illegals for every single action that they take will here in the USA!!

I am a hard working 26 year old man, i do construction. I do a lot of the things listed. contractors that uses illegals under bid contractors that use legal workers. taking jobs away from Americans, taking taxes away the government, and lowering pay standards. An American doing construction should not make less then $15 per hour. Illegals work for way less. I think people that use illegal workers should first go to jail and second should pay a heavy fine and potentially lose their right to own/run a business.

I think any willing to work poor person would do any of the jobs listed. and if they dont then they should not recive help.

Americans just want to get payed well.

Yeah right low paying jobs. Were I live they are doing high paying jobs. Or what is high paying for them. Next time you are driving next to a big rig look at who is driving it. Bush funded a program to allow anyone from Mexico to drive\ve here in the states. Also construction. They are putting up buildings. Big buildings. Warehouse jobs. They work in almost every industry. They are not doing jobs no one wants. They get the jobs that big business does not want to pay high wages for. or what is high wages to them. As for is it wrong too pay a cheaper rate to get your house painted. No it is not. But it is a crime to aid a criminal. Farm owners have been paying the same price for labor for years. But every year prices go up. Would you hire a murderer to do something cheaper than anyone else? Same concept hire a criminal and then when your house gets broken into we all have to listen to you whine. This isn't a Democrat problem. Nor is it a Republican problem. It is a political problem. Big business pays for politicians. Yes Republican and Democrat. Good luck when you save 3500 hundred on your house painting. I hear Best Buy is having a big sale on TV, computers and other electronics. Maybe the 3500 will cover what gets stolen.

I have personally worked at every one of these jobs except #1.

If you haven't ever worked at one of these jobs, you have either had a sheltered life or a privileged life. There are many Americans that have to worked 2 or more jobs to make ends meet, and some of these could help improve their quality of life.

It's not "our" tightfistedness" that keeps illegals coming. It's the tightfistedness of those that HIRE illegals.

I never have and never WILL hire an illegal alien.

I have done most of those jobs at some point in my life when there was nothing else available and the pay was crappy even back then! except for the painting job, that was like 10 bucks an hour to start about 15 years ago, would have stayed in it but the illegals under priced my wages! and was let go so that they could hire 2 immigrants to do my job

i agree with you if you are saying immigrants are hard working people and help support themselves. What bothers me more than anything is people feel that they didn't come from the same chance we are denying others. I too, have worked hard during my college and pre college years (even with this degree and working on the second) I am still busting my butt but denying someone a fair shake because where they came from beyond dumb. My people did their 400 years and I don't see us rebuilding anything AGAIN for free.

Several of my friends who are white Americans have worked as restaurant workers, fast food workers, grocery stockers and handymen. Before these illegals came flooding in Americans did all these jobs.

If it wasn't for illegals taking the jobs for next to nothing these jobs would pay more and hence more Americans would take them. If you pay me enough I'll do any job

You need to get out more. They are also are auto mechanics, own restaurants, nail technicians, roofers and electricians. This hurts are union guys. Students have a difficult time finding a part time jobs. Money goes out of our economy and sent somewhere else. The only one that wins is the illegal. They have visa's for unskilled labor. Let them do it the right way like others do.

You're gonna get these "better than anyone" people to say that they'd do ALL of these jobs. The truth is, they would not, because I sure as heck wouldn't! Jeez, I even pay for someone to do my shopping for me! So, the fact is, people who are undocumented WORK THE JOBS WE DON'T, so everyone can just shut it and admit it's the truth. You're right, we're causing our own problems for thinking we are holier than thou.
