Definitely no ice, run cool water over the burned area to stop the skin from burning for 5 minutes or until cool.

Butter is an old wives tale and does not help, in fact it can make it worse. The reason they used to use butter is because butter was kept cool and would help cool the burn.

If it is charred, dry and you are noticing any loss of sensation you may need emergency care.

If it is just red aloe can help sooth and speed healing, wrap in sterile gauze bandage (not cotton) and take some over the counter pain meds. Blisters may appear, DO NOT BREAK THE BLISTERS.

Slather it with 100% aloe vera gel. You can get it at any drugstore. I swear that stuff saved me when I accidentally dumped a pot of near boiling soup on myself.
