Can't say that it will help you with your strength as the double end bag doesnt work that function of the muscles. You most certainly can gain speed and eye to hand coordination with out a problem. Try hitting the double end bag with heavier gloves than your use to, this should give you tremendous ability to control your punches when thrown with your regular gloves there for making your punch more powerful.

Yes you should invest on a double end bag they are great in your workout routine and they increase your boxing skill a great deal.

Ok look, go and get a speedrope(NIKE or SPARQ) and tear that bad boy up. I'm talking about the PVC coated stainless steel cable style of sorts. Leather ones work good to, but speedropes have that snap to them. Once you get the hang of it, you'll see what I'm talking about; unless you already do. When you hit the rope, try to develop a bounce to where the reps become more of a two-step motion instead of 1...2...3...4...5, and so on. I tought myself how to hop rope from square one; and all I can do, is the side to side hop, standard and some of the cross up here and there. Nothing fancy, just basics. I personally NEED to do and least 4-6 sets of 100-200 reps at a time or it doesn't feel right and that I'm wasting my time. Then again it's no problem, as I can do it with my eyes shut and chewing gum. Not to brag, but I must say that I am now, MUCH more reflexive, explosive, coordinated, sharper and can endure more in terms of not losing my breath so easily... and I don't even box in the gym. I would like to get into martial arts though, very much! Jumping rope has help me develop "THAT", so I feel that it would be fun to get into something and utilize my skill so I can see how good I really am.
Now a speed bag is another thing. I've never used one, but with my rope "skills", I think I would have fun with one of those. I'd say it develops more on zeroing in on your target in it's own right moreso, but everybody's different. You say you want strength though, so go get a heavy bag, (2) 25lb. hexbells and maybe some push-up bars to mix it up, and be patient. You'll casually improve here and there!

I been in the game before, the best thing to use for hand and eye coordination is,double end bag and have a trainer use punching mitts to catch your shot's, also it help you learn to slip shot's as well.
Starp on a pair of wrist weights and do some work on the heavybag, then remove them after your routine. Check how light and fast your hands will be, get on the speedbag and put in some work. All the things I just told you about will develope strenght ,speed and coordination. Go ahead and put down a bad azz demo in the gym!!

Speed and hand-eye coordination, yes. Strength? Nah, you only gain strength through progressive resistance training, i.e. lifting weights.

by increasing your hand eye coordination along with the speed of your punches it will increase the effectivness of your punches and make them more powerfull, it also will help build all the supporting muscles behind your puches but will make them more fit for speed rather than power. if you want power and dont mind moving up in weight you need to lift. also hit the heavy bag and use weighted gloves when you shadow box

It will help you very little with strength. That's why they created the heavy bag, push-ups and weights..

No strength as in punching power, but some endurance of certain muscles in the arm related to it.

If you are looking for strength as the main thing, I would say you should try a heavybag.
