Anything light & bright will do. If you like orange, Sherwin Williams "creole cottage" is a very welcoming & calming color while still being open & radiant.

Any light color, lets say you do a light purple. Like a pastel. Then choose an accent wall, the wall you want to be the focal, like maybe the wall you have your bed on, or the wall with some great windows, or a fireplace, etc. And using that same purple pallet, go 2 or 3 shades darker, and do that there.

Light blue will give the room a feeling of sky.

A large mirror on an unobstructed wall will add space also.
If opposite a window the mirror will add both space & a virtual window.

Using a futon (if possible) instead of a bed can increase interior space.

Finally, aranging the furniture to maximize unobstructed floor space.

Most people have said white, and i agree.
But if white is to boring for you, think of your favourite color and then paint your bedroom with a lighter color from your choice..
like..if your favourite colour is blue...paint it baby blue
if your favourite colour is pink..paint it baby pink
if your favourite colour is black..paint it a very soft grey colour.

and so on...

we've got soft grey in our living room, and it looks good, and spacious.

you need to , stand and look at your window ,
now the wall behind you should be white /cream or a tan color .
the rest of the room,includeing the ceiling should be a off white

Any color thats light. dark colors tend to make it appear to make things look smaller. lighter is the key doesnt need to neccessarly be white. soft pastel maybe.
