All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast (regardless of circumstances).
Proverbs 15:15

As far as I know, the Bible never specifically mentions humor, whether in a positive or negative sense. Laughter is mentioned, however--always in a good light, in the context of being able to laugh at our enemies or the furture. I'd say humor probably falls under that.
There are traditionalists who belive that publicly showing a sense of humor is undignified and unbecoming a Christian, but there is never any scripture that prohibits having a sense of humor.

There are a couple of books, HOLY HUMOR and MORE HOLY HUMOR by Cal and Rose Samra, that are full of clean, Christian-related jokes. They also have a lot of arguments to support the position that not only are we allowed to laugh, but are actually encouraged to do so.

The Bible does not prohibit Christians from having fun, watching humorous shows and movies, or even watch stand up comedians. It will all depend on the God given liberty and conscience of the believer. As long as humour does not ridicule, lambast, and humiliate another person(practical jokes)

The last movie I had seen was A Night in the Museum, and it is funny...

I am a Christian with a great sense of humour...

Yes! Its says we cant have a sense of humor! We HAVE to be uptight racist a.s.s.h.o.l.e.s. all the time. I dont want to be, but it MAKES me! I try and have fun, but I am just not allowed!!!

Its horrible. I hate it. I sit here and have funny things in my mind...but I cant say them or else god will smite me.

...................No, there is nothing in the bible that says we cant have a sense of humor. There is just a LOOOOOOOOOOT of christians out there that seem like they cant take a joke...and its a bummer.

I would rather chat with an atheist, at least when I crack a Jesus joke, I will acutally get a laugh or two....

you can't expect someone to have the same sense of humor as yourself. I'm sure that you are referring to some of what you would consider humor on this forum. The kind of "humor" that pokes at another's beliefs. So, just because people don't share in your humor, doesn't mean that they are totally without it.

Crap! I probably sound like I don't have a sense of humor!

No. God wants God's people to be happy and joyful.

If you want an example of a saint with a sense of humor, check out the story of St. Lawrence. He was executed on a gridiron, basically a human rottiserie. After they had cooked him for a while, he said, "Turn me over, that side is done." Now that's funny!

Of course christians can have a sense of humor. Just no dirty jokes and stuff like that. I hang out and laugh with practically everyone at school. Christianity only makes people loners if they choose it that way.

The only thing I can think of is the passage in Ecclesiastes that says "there is a time to laugh and a time to cry" but I wouldn't consider that a mandate against a sense of humor.

Although I can not completely back it up, no, I don't think there is any problem with having a sence of humor, although it does say things about not puting others down to build others up, which at times can fall under the catagory of Comedy. just be alittle awair about what you use your humorus comments for and what you say in those comments.
