I hate these teasers which detect virus' and spyware but dont remove them until you purchase the software, are there any legit free software left on this planet?

AdAware from: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Anti-virus:
AVG Anti-virus from: http://www.grisoft.com/ Finding the free one may take a couple of minutes, but it is there.
General clean-up:
CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com

Sure.
My favorite is Spybot Search and Destroy, which not only cleans out spyware, it immunizes against thousands of different threats. It's free, but they ask for a donation if you like it.
Yahoo has one too. I think it's called anti-spy, but when I tried it, it was nowhere near as effective.
