Yep. Well that and it is just a ridiculous story to start with.
"What was it that Adam ate that he wasn't supposed to eat? It wasn't just an apple. It was the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The subtle message? 'Get smart and I'll f*** you over' sayeth the Lord. God is the smartest, and he doesn't want any Competition. Is this not an absolutely anti-intellectual religion?"

I do not follow the logic. Supposedly in that story Adam and Eve were the only enlightened ones around.
Apparently the fruit WAS shame.

No, it doesn't mean the Bible isn't true. If you don't believe in God, how do you know the difference between right and wrong? How do you know you didn't teach the child shame? Scientists barely understands the brain. You know something the scientists don't? You make an loaded analogy.

Non human primates clearly show evidence of shame when deception is discovered by the social group.
Shame or embarrasment appears to be innate in all social mammals. It is only what we teach children to feel shameful about that is learned.

You are correct the story is just that a story..
As for teaching children shame.. I have tried to avoid teaching my children shame... I have 3 children who each march to the beat of their own drummer, if occassionally they are marching in the same direction as others it's purely cooincidence..

Believe me my son has no shame whatsoever, it is definitely a learned emotion. However I am appalled that you would suggest that every single letter of the OT isn't historically proven word of biblegod.

I have 3 girls and with each of them I had to yell at them to get clothes on as they got older
they were so comfortable naked ... and I was happy with that until they reached about 4 years old
if I hadnt told them to cover up ... would they be more comfortable with their bodies as adults ? .... I think so
so there is no shame with children , they think nothing of it
I wish we could be more like them
so I understand what you are saying totally

The only reason God didn't want Adam to eat the fruit is because he didn't want Adam to gain some of the same powers God had.
It's in the Bible.

Let me ask you this:
1- do we have to teach a child to hit or not to hit?
2- do we have to teach a child to share or not to share?
3- do we have to teach a child to lie or to tell the truth?
think about it

The parable is true, and we eat of it even today.
Funny that you should come across the truth of that parable from a totally different direction than Christians.
You've eaten of it. So have I.
I just learned to stop.
Want you to do so as well.
